2 out of 5 eggs1 yr 5 months

Pros: Good Price. Easy install.

Cons: Bought March 2011. Started getting a few bad sectors by Dec 2011. By July 2011 it was getting bad enough that I needed to RMA the drive.

Other Thoughts: Long warranty on this drive is a plus. If you make sure you have an image backup, its easy to reinstall a new drive, its ok. Problem is, this is the 2nd green drive I have had to RMA.

I dont think I will get WD next trip. My SeaGate drive is 1 year older than both of the WD drives, and its still going@!@

1 out of 5 eggsWorst drive from Western Digital

Pros: Alot of space. BEWARE of Green Power drives they do not last! I recommend Caviar Black or Blu drives from Western Digital as I have never had one fail and I have them from 1-10 years old.

Cons: Doesn't last as long as other lines of Western Digital hard drives. BEWARE of Green Power drives they do not last!

Other Thoughts: I bought a Green Power drive 1.0TB Western Digital in 2007. Today the drive has crashed and its been about 4 years since I bought. The drive was only ever used as a secondary drive for storage so It wasn't put under alot of strenuous situations. I own alot of Western Digital hard drives ranging from 10 years old to 1 year old and this is the only one I have ever owned that failed on me so far and it is the only Green Power drive i've ever bought and it will be the last. Stick with Caviar black or blue drives

4 out of 5 eggsPretty solid for the price

Pros: Haven't had any problems out of the two that I bought. I set them in RAID 0 and haven't had any failures or hiccups from December 2010 when I installed them. Low power usage and dependability are very present in this model.

Cons: Low read/write speed but is expected with green drives.

Other Thoughts: Great for average computers and are a little better in RAID 0 since the low power consumption leads to less drive failures.

4 out of 5 eggsUNREAL

Pros: Quiet & fast. I'm a little concerned about it's reliability given other reviews, but hard drives can also be fickle, and fickle in large amounts, so we'll see. BY THE WAY, I ordered it yesterday. YESTERDAY. It's in my hands already. NEWEGG, YOU ROCK.

Cons: Until it fails, none.

Other Thoughts: Someone ripped Newegg in a review below mine, and I can tell you that after many, many years of buying, I always check Newegg first before I buy....anything. It's always shipped super fast and I rarely return anything. That guy's issue is a rarity......or his own problem.

1 out of 5 eggsNewegg slipping up

Pros: unknown

Cons: Ordered four days ago; Newegg reports "20+" in stock. Credit card charged days ago, but the product still has not shipped. How far Newegg has fallen! They used to be a company with which one could do business.

5 out of 5 eggsNote to EVERYONE

Pros: PLEASE REFORMAT THESE HARD DRIVES USING YOUR OS. If you don't, they WILL have a default allocation unit of 2048 instead of 4096. This cuts all performance in half. NEVER LEAVE THE DRIVE THE WAY IT IS. WD DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FORMAT HDDS. 2048 - speeds up to 26.7MBPS MAX 4096 - 70MBPS average. Huge difference.

Cons: None. Unless you left the hard drive the way it was.

Other Thoughts: IDE hard drives ran at 26MBPS.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Sure..

Pros: It's a TB, works well. and QUIET. Low power consumption.

Cons: After about 9 months developed 7 bad sectors. I am unsure if this is because of my moving or not.

Other Thoughts: I originally got this drive from an External USB backup device. So it's basically the same thing. Just a different item code. Works really well. Speed is nice and all. lost an egg because of the bad sector and for some strange reason won't exclude them from use.
