Other Thoughts: I've owned this over a year and never had so much as a hiccup. It is primarily my storage as my main drive is small. WD has an awesome name for themselves as quality and I've personally owned WD drives since 2004.. I've not had a single drive fail on me.

Pros: Far outlasted any of the Seagate drives I have ever owned. Good read/write speeds.

Other Thoughts: * I've built and owned probably a hundred drives plus in my life. I'm a fan of WD.
* I'm a firm believer that they warranty a drive for the amount of years they built the drive to last. 5yr warranty drives will last longer than 1yr warranty drives. Black and enterprise with WD.
* Friend using this drive. Heard no complaints.

Pros: Storage capacity

Cons: Loud, grinding/crunching noises (Since started using the drive).

Failed at the one year mark.

Other Thoughts: This is my 4th WD hard drive to fail within 2 years of purchase date. Will try my luck with Seagate while waiting for SSD prices to drop further.

Other Thoughts: Got it all set up for programs to be installed on an SSD, and personal files and accounts of this awesome HDD. Works like a charm!

Pros: I have two of these in a RAID-1 mirror as my primary drives for a Windows 7 device. They are rock solid. They have a 5 years warranty in a day where manufacturers have reduced to 1 or 2 years on many high capacity drives.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: In the past, I would never buy WD drives. However, they were one of the only manufactures to give a 5 year warranty on a desktop drive so I decided to go that route. Now I only buy WD drives.

Pros: Great drive. Have it in a RAID 5 array with 2 other WD 1.5TB drives.

Cons: Paid $30 more than it is right now.

Other Thoughts: Previously, I had a RAID 0 array with 2 WD1501FASS drives. One died after 6 months, the other after 9 months. Took all my data with them, but that's the risk you take with RAID 0. Both were replaced by WD, and with this additional drive to make it a RAID 5, they've been great.

Cons: my new comp (asus max v formula) wont install it. doesnt even show up. Does that mean its DOA??

Other Thoughts: when i tried to put windows7 on it ,it asked for drivers on a disc that i didnt get with the harddrive.

During an operating system installation, the hard drive may not be recognized at all or may request for a driver for your SATA controller card. These can be obtained from the System Manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba, Gateway, etc.), the motherboard manufacturer, SATA or EIDE card manufacturer (if it is connected to a PCI or PCIe slot). Please contact your system manufacturer as every controller card requires a different driver.
