4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: worked well when recieved

Cons: approaching a year in service now and constantly disappearing in windows. On it's way out but for a refurbished drive I can't really expect much more

Other Thoughts: Wish it had lasted a bit longer

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad At All

Pros: Inexpensive, Fast, Reliable, not a problem at all to install. I bought 4 for a RAID-10 config and the perform very nicely with my AsRock Z75 Pro 3 motherboard.

Cons: They do warm up quite a bit so bear that in mind.

Other Thoughts: I'm ordering more for recovery if my RAID gets weird ;)

5 out of 5 eggsGood, so far. No hiccups.

Pros: - Fast read/write speed
- Quiet

Cons: Being a refurbished piece of equipment, once formatted, it only had about 300GB of space, but; that isn't too major.

Other Thoughts: I bought this drive to replace my oooooooooooooooooold WD800 - One of the earliest SATA HDDs made. The WD800 had come to the end of it's lifespan, but I didn't have much money lying around, to buy a new HDD.
Despite the split reviews of this product, and the fact that refurb drives are a 50/50 chance of actually working - I bought it. I was able to quickly re-install Win8 and get everything else installed, and running. I had it run in circles; moving around large amounts of data, at a time, and also left it running for a week, plus; to give it a bit of a 'stress test;' and I'd say I'm fairly satisfied with it. Didn't even have to RMA. Thanks newegg! Keep up with the quality products - I hope to be a long-time customer of your's.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: WD reliabilty altho I do have doubts after reading the other reviews. But seems to be running good right now on a new computer build as the main drive. I tested it and it had and average read speed of 71mbs and a max of 78mbs so it runs good and speedy.

Cons: None so far. Hope it last like WD drives normally do.

Other Thoughts: It had a good speed to price ratio.

1 out of 5 eggsmisrepresented

Pros: The drive works

Cons: This drive was not factory refurbished by Western Digital as claimed. The 90 day warranty is supported by an undisclosed "third party" refurbisher.

Other Thoughts: Newegg lists Western Digital's contact information under the 90 day warranty, but the factory label shows that it was not refurbished by WD, and is not warranted by them. After repeated denials at two levels, Newegg Customer Service finally admitted that it was "refurbished" by a "third party", but would not name the company. The product's quality and value were misrepresented. I am very disappointed with Newegg, and will be getting my WD drives elsewhere.

1 out of 5 eggsRefurbished drive

Pros: Price and speed of delivery were great. However, that is a definite plus for Newegg, not any company associated with the drive.

Cons: For something that was listed as "refurbished" this drive lasted only long enough for it to be installed, the OS installed, and to begin to install some of the backup files. That was just a matter of a few days of work to install and perform the task of the OS and some of my backups. Unfortunately, the short term warranty does not leave enough time if one needs to salvage valuable files that had to be saved directly from another drive that was bad and ready to quit. I managed to get the most important files from the other drive before it quit, but within four hours of getting them onto the new, refurbished drive, it also quit.

Other Thoughts: I would think that if a new, full year replacement warranty is not given on a factory refurbished drive that they should have a three month warranty where should the drive fail in that time the factory would mirror the old drive and send that copy to the purchaser with the replacement drive.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy Refurb WD drives

Pros: Price, at the time the deal was nice. WD reliability drive name.

Cons: WD Refurbs Fail almost 100% of the time. Working at a repair shop we noticed every refurb drive would come back with in the year with bad sectors & data loss.

We still trust WD Drives, just no longer order Refurbished ones
