Western Digital WD Green WD10EARS 1TB 64MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: I bought 4 of these new right after they came out back in 11/2008. They've been in a home NAS/Media Server running 24/7 since then. No issues. None. I just swapped them out for 4 WD 2TB reds.

Cons: None

Pros: I have had remarkably few problems with Western Digital drives (one failure in 20, and that is after four years of use). This one is humming right along like its other refurb brothers in my home NAS. These drives make running a ten-sik machine financially feasible.

Cons: Well, refurb means less warranty and return options.

Pros: One TB HDD No fail rate as far as hard drives go it is mechanical keep that in mind. DUH its A WESTERN DIGITAL.

Cons: NONE.

Other Thoughts: Buy one if you need more storage than 1TB then get a 3TB or buy a couple its your pc do you

Pros: Quiet
No vibration
Fast enough for backup purpose

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Replace a 640gb WD black that was vibrating too much in external case.

Pros: This one is in my folding@home machine running 24 x 7. No bad things in smart drive. quiet, no click, no clack, no whining

Cons: I paid $149, slower than a WD10FAEX, would not try to raid (0 stripe), maybe it will mirror (raid 1)

Other Thoughts: only SSD is quieter, uses less power, but 50 x morer $ per Mb than this

Pros: I got this for $69.99 and man it's silent.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I recommend this to everyone.

Pros: -it worked out of the box
-it has 1tb memory
-cheap (refurbished that actually works)

Cons: -it's refurbished (so you have a higher chance of getting one DOA I didn't)

Other Thoughts: I was worried about getting a refurbished item but it works and feels like new.

Pros: Works. Got it at a fair price.

Cons: Didn't come with a Monster Energy drink.

Pros: 64MB Cache and lower power consumption makes this great for a NAS Setup.
Runs cool which is great for the confined space in a NAS setup.

Cons: Not really much of a Con but only 90 day Manufacture warranty on these refurbished drives. Luckily Newegg offers up to 2 year replacement service which fills in that gap nicely is you choose that option.

Other Thoughts: I got 2 more of these drives to finish filling up my 6 Drive NAS system.
Running 6 1TB drives in a Raid 5 configuration and have been running non stop for the past couple weeks..

Pros: I got that drive last year before the floods for about 44$ refurbished. I'm using it for ZoneMinder, recording 24/7 for more than a year now and still solid, up and running. Drive is formatted in EXT4 and it get detected at boot in a old P4 Northwood system without a problem.

Cons: Price is too high for a refurbished item at the moment.

Other Thoughts: I'm glad that I got that drive at the right price.
