5 out of 5 eggsA Good Solid Performing HDD And Good Upgrade For A Laptop

Pros: I replaced a 250 GB HDD in my laptop with this device after my laptop warranty ended.
It has proven to be a reliable replacement. Works like it came OEM with the laptop.
Tripled my original storage capacity at a fair price. WD makes a good product.

Cons: Only wish I would have held out for a full TB HDD when the prices on them dropped.
But I still have plenty of storage, So not really a con on the product itself.

Other Thoughts: Somewhat of a challenge to install a HDD into a laptop as I had to take most of it apart to access the original drive.
If you take your time to research online tutorials, it can be done and put back together like new.
No major issues in getting it formatted and reinstalling the OS. A external optical drive is almost a necessity.
But with the manufacturer's back up/reinstallation disc and a lot of patience it can be done inexpensively.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: I purchased this drive to replace a Broken drive on a clients laptop, and the lap top is still working fine nearly 3 years later. I am pleased and so are they!

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: WD has always seemed to provide a good product all of my computers have a Western Digital Drive in them and they continue to impress me, when I have an old computer that is still using a WD for now nearly 8 years and counting

3 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasted

Pros: The 5 year warranty is pretty nice. If your experience should turn out to be anything like mine, you'll be making use of it.

Seemed reasonably fast for being a 2.5 inch mechanical hard drive. Noticeably faster than the 5,400 RPM drive it had replaced.

While it lasted, it didn't get as hot as the hard drive it replaced despite being faster.

Cons: It started dying approximately two years and one month from the day I purchased it. Currently up to 44 pending sectors and 456 read errors with more each week. Currently at 16,181 GB total reads, 12,837 GB total writes. Powered on 1,010 times and has functioned so far for 11,349 hours, which translates to somewhere around 1.3 years of actual use, though the dying process started two months ago. Even TLC SSDs would be expected to last far longer.

The price is ridiculous considering what you'd be getting.

Other Thoughts: I couldn't recommend buying one of these at this stage. I purchased mine on sale at around $60 after price matching and it came with a free $13 aluminum hard drive bracket. And this was at a time when SSDs were vastly more expensive than they currently are. If you must buy one of these, I highly suggest storing the original packaging material. If you need to make use of the warranty, Western Digital expects you to ship it to them just as Newegg will ship it to you.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat drive

Pros: Works like a charm, I have it installed in a high end power pc with three exactly the same drives raided and two plextor ssd m5p 128 ssd drives raided for boot, no problems and I torture this machine. In my opinion they keep up with 3.5 size drives at 7200 RPMs. Only diff is capacity and considering that I have a blu Ray burner and four 2.5 hdds in one 5.25 bay and 2 ssd and one 3.5 media drive in another 5.25, plus other stuff, incredible...

Cons: None, maybe capacity

1 out of 5 eggsShipping

Pros: Reading good reviews online. Haven't received it yet.

Cons: I am not sure where in this website or in your account to track something you just bought. I can't find it anywhere. I've read that takes forever to shipped things to the buyers and it is frustrating not knowing where your items is.

5 out of 5 eggsScorpio Black

Pros: No issues left. Western Digital has usually worked well for me.

Cons: Hasn't died yet. Knock on wood. Any hard drive can crash at any time, just go easy on the stuff.....

Other Thoughts: Using this in an ext case for movies. I have it on a G-box MX2, and keep moving it to and fro.....uploading movies and such. I don't smack it around, and treat it far it has returned the favor.

3 out of 5 eggs"ticking" at a little over 14 months

Pros: Exactly what it claims to be.

No issues up to about 1 year.

Cons: The death tick started at about 12 months and I doubt it will last much longer. It's a shame, I typically swear by WD.

Other Thoughts: Back up your data

4 out of 5 eggsPoor vendor, great product

Pros: Great hard drive. I refreshed my Mac Mini with a 250gb Samsung Evo 840 SSD and wanted to install an internal Time Machine backup drive using a 2nd HDD kit from OWC..
It's a little spendier than other 2.5" drives but if the numbers and reviews are right it's worth it.

Cons: Action Packaged is the WORST online purchase experience I have had in a very long time! I placed my order before Labor Day and lingered in processing forever. It was 3 weeks before I received the drive.
This vendor will never see another cent of my money again.
I have been a Newegg customer for 8 years and it has always been a great experience...except this purchase.

Other Thoughts: I did my homework for this purchase because the Mini is so difficult to work on. I only wanted it in the shop once so I chose the Samsung SSD and the WD Scorpio Black based on user reviews.
Research revealed that a Time Machine drive should be 2-3 times the size of the boot drive so 750gb was the choice to keep a 250gb SSD backed up.
This drive had the highest MTBF, fastest numbers and best customer reviews of any other 2.5" HDD.
