1 out of 5 eggsYOU DELIVERY MY PACKAGE TO THE WRONG PEOPLE

Pros: I don't have any since you sent it to the wrong people.

Cons: I live in Hurricane Utah and you delivery my Hard Drive to some people out in Salt Lake. I check the address to make sure it was right and it was. Please Fix this problem

2 out of 5 eggsYear 2 failure

Pros: -Refurbished drive lasted from 11/25/11 - 01/20/13.
-Low cost

Cons: -Slow write speeds are more or less true
-Frequently hang-ups before ultimate failure

Upon major hang up issue I installed a new SSD intending to keep the 1.5TB as a storage drive.
- Drive is consistently recognized by BIOS but hangs and becomes lost in Windows.
- Drive usually appears in Disk Management
- Had a hell of a time taking full ownership of files
- Frequent crashes made backing up data a nightmare
- Updated BIOS and tests in IDE and AHCI mode did not solve any issues.

Other Thoughts: - Buying a high-capacity refurbished drive with mediocre reviews is risky business. You'd be better off buying a new HDD with a solid amount of positive reviews.

1 out of 5 eggsRMA :( Rly wanted this too

Pros: great price fir the size

Cons: Came in and plugged it in BIOS founded it, thought all waz gravy then booted win7 64bit. It found the hard drive right away in the Disk manager. then I followed the wizard instructions to label the disk and give it a drive letter, then on to the format process, this is where it failed an error msg pop'd up an read "Failed to complete format" "ok". I click the button and bam! it completely disappears from the system intierley.

Other Thoughts: Love WD HDD's

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I bought 3 of these drives and tested them right away with a complete SMART test and several bad sector scans. All of them work fine with no problems. They run at about 37° C during long R/W operations, and are very quiet.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I bought 3 of these drives to match one I already have. I'm using them all in a NAS RAID enclosure.

2 out of 5 eggs50% Failure Rate After 1 Year

Pros: These are decently fast drives (64MB cache), excellent price per TB, don't require gobs of power. 3 Year warranty, great customer support, easy RMA process.

Cons: Horrendously high failure rate. I bought four of these to use in a RAID10 setup back in March of 2012, and I'm sending in my second RMA as we speak. 50% failure rate prior to reaching advertised MTBF is completely unacceptable. If I didn't have them in a RAID setup, I probably would have lost a lot of important data.

Other Thoughts: Customer service was surprisingly excellent. The RMA process is VERY easy and I got a 2TB drive on the first one I had to replace. I have a feeling WD is taking a huge loss on these drives because of the 3 year warranty. An extra half terabyte is enough to keep me quiet because I haven't lost any data (yet), but it's probably not enough to satisfy those unlucky folks who lost everything.

These are great drives when they work, but don't use them if you don't plan to back them up.

3 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Worth the price, works for day to day usage for most people.

Cons: Isn't very fast, but that's expected for something this price.

Other Thoughts: Should be SATA III not SATA II.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: I got this one to use as a backup. Not the least bit disappointed. Glad it save power when not in use. Ran some benchmarks & it is pretty fast for a mechanical drive. 1.5Tb for about $50 was a great deal to me, as I didn't need the fastest out there.

Cons: None at the moment

Other Thoughts: Guess I'm lucky most of the time & refurb thing work as advertised for me.
