5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal

Pros: For under 20.00 this hard drive is a great deal. Worked with no issues and had 0 hours of run time on it. After testing it came back healthy.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: I bought one to replace two other "refurb" drives who quit booting (I don't know whether to blame the old drives or the thunderstorm for the failures, but nothing else was damaged). It seems to work so far.

Cons: These drives are always questionable. What does refurb mean; do they open up the drive and put in new stuff? No, judging from other reviews you're lucky if they've been retested!

Other Thoughts: I just ordered another, and will report back.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Excellent Price

Cons: Ordered 4 to use as backup drives for my younger grandkids. So far I have tried to use 3 of the 4 I ordered last month. The first two were dead, one could not be initialized the other had so may bad sectors I gave up on trying to format it. The third so far is working just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat choice for a hard drive!

Pros: This is a refurbished hard drive at a great price (I bought it as a Shell Shocker deal for $18.99) and is currently serving as a backup drive in a friend's computer. I was able to install and format the drive without an issue and it works great!

Cons: None whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: Western Digital continues its reputation for producing excellent hard drives. They are my first choice when it comes to hard drives and NewEgg is my first choice for a vendor for these hard drives as they have provided excellent service and support in the rare instances when I have received a defective WD hard drive.

5 out of 5 eggsDrive

Pros: Nice lightweight WD hard drive. Used Parted Magic's smart utility. Shows no errors at all, and no use previous to now.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: My last refurb drive from Newegg turned out great. Hope this one lasts as long as that. Given the very positive test results, I don't see why it wouldn't.

1 out of 5 eggsWD Refurb drives unreliable

Pros: After two months, one of five drives still in use.

Cons: Four of five drives non-functional or unreliable.

Other Thoughts: I wonder about the meaning of "manufacturer recertified."

5 out of 5 eggsCheap, used but looks like new.

Pros: I was quite surprised when I loaded up Crystal Disk Info on this drive, it was NEVER booted up prior to being powered up on my system, logging a total of ZERO hours of operation, it showed no errors or bad sectors.
Decent speed for a mechanical drive, I got roughly 133MB/s Seq read and write. Cheap, got it for only $20 which was a good deal.
This drive had the standard return policy (At the time of purchase) so I was rest assured if anything went wrong, I can return it for my money back within 30 days.

Cons: No documentation of ANY kind, nor any cables, be prepared to have your own to use! Could have been a higher capacity. Not worth knocking any eggs off.

Other Thoughts: While not a con it is worth mentioning that this thing has to be formatted before it will show up in my computer in windows, after that it is good to go. I got this to shore up some shortage of drive space on my SSD, this works great where I can toss some programs that do not need the speed of an SSD. This is not slow by mechanical drive standards either, which pleased me greatly.
I got a refurbished drive previously and it had roughly 3 years of CONTINUOUS hours of use, this one by comparison is brand spanking new.
