1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy!!!

Pros: new magnet to play with

Cons: bought 2 one was DOA. Click of death. they say there refurbished which is a load of bull. there not tested they just slap an approved sticker on them. Don't have much faith in the one that works. wont put anything important on it

Other Thoughts: get a new one on shell shocker spend the extra $20 I wish I did ;(

5 out of 5 eggsGot 2 Good Working Refurbed Drives

Pros: It's cheap storage and works well. I ordered two of these, and both had under 100 power ons and around 10k hours of total usage. Both drives were in great health and are working very well.

Cons: Can't find anything to complain about for how much I paid.

Other Thoughts: Some of you won't get the same results that I did with these refurbished drives. Buying refurbished hard drives are kind of a gamble but well worth it if you get good working ones.

1 out of 5 eggs2 out of 3 good, painless RMA on 3rd JANUARY 2016 EDIT: Won't buy again, see "Other Thoughts" section

Pros: Low cost, quiet, decent speed, overall nice condition, trusted manufacturer. No bad sectors after 200+ hours in my machine.

Cons: Ordered 3, 2 were good, one was unusably slow, read 66/write 17 MBs (norm is 127/124). Newegg exchanged quickly with no hassle.

Other Thoughts: JANUARY 2016 EDIT: Recently bought 2 more drives. They were shipped in a small plain (non-Newegg) box with no cushioning other than a short length of bubble wrap tossed in loose between them. The box had a row of large metal staples on the seam, protruding inside. And that's how these drives went from New York all across the country to Seattle, bouncing around in a UPS truck for a week. Do they work? Yes. Do I expect them to work very long? Not really.

The drives I got last August were shipped by Newegg and carefully wrapped. They appeared remanufactured; printing machine-stamped on sides, hours reset to zero, in WD anti-static bags. This last purchase looks like a slap-dash recycler; generic bags, green paper circles to indicate refurb. One even had a side covered in goo with dust stuck in it, like someone spilled their soft drink on it and it dried. The problem isn't the goo (I cleaned it off easily) but that the recycler either didn't inspect the drive before shipping, or just didn't care. Whatever, I won't be buying more.

1 out of 5 eggsWell, It works but....

Pros: So far the drive works.

Cons: So, the box arrived at my door and to my surprise, the HD was loose bouncing around inside the cardboard box. When I opened the box, the HD was merely placed in an anti-static bag WITHOUT ANY FOAM PADDING. The HD had dented the inside of the box in several places and has likely sustained high shock. Who thinks that a HD can be shipped this way ????????

3 out of 5 eggsgood but also bad

Pros: purchased 5 of these to set up a raid 5 on my pc, 4 for the raid and 1 for backup in case i get a failed drive. worked great for 6 months.

Cons: after 6 months 2 of the drives have failed and of course they are out of warranty.

Other Thoughts: i purchased refurbished to save money, i dont thing ill ever purchase refurbished again with 2 of the 5 failing after only 6 months of use. i dont overclock and i dont do massive amounts of data usage, i play games and watch movies, i just wanted the raid 5 so i could retain data in case of a drive failure instead of having to loose everything and reload windows.

5 out of 5 eggsPassed WD Data Lifeguard Extended Test

Pros: Inexpensive, 7200 RPM, SATA 6.0gB/s. No errors.

Cons: For the price I have no complaints.

Other Thoughts: Used for extra storage on a new build. I have Windows 10 x64 on a separate SSD. It passed the extended test in Western Digital's Data Lifeguard. The price was great!

I would purchase it again. I would definitely recommend it for a very inexpensive storage solution.

5 out of 5 eggsmy go-to

Pros: This drive has impressed me not only because it's a quality refurbished item but incredible value. It works as both a file and a movie drive but fast enough to load games on. My most recent drive is near full and I plan to buy more in the future.

Cons: None, the storage isn't large but you pay for what you get.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Hard Drives

Pros: Have been running great ever since I got them.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I ordered 2 of these to be mirrored drives in web server. It was a low budget server I created, 2 of these in raid 1 have sufficed me well, and neither has had any issues.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: I bought one to replace two other "refurb" drives who quit booting (I don't know whether to blame the old drives or the thunderstorm for the failures, but nothing else was damaged). It seems to work so far.

Cons: These drives are always questionable. What does refurb mean; do they open up the drive and put in new stuff? No, judging from other reviews you're lucky if they've been retested!

Other Thoughts: I just ordered another, and will report back.
