5 out of 5 eggsPurchased a year ago as a refurb, still going

Pros: Worked fine, plugged it in and installed windows 7 with no problems. Its been running almost 24/7 for over a year and a recent fresh install of windows and all is well. Chkdsk found a few errors but the drive passes wd's SMART tests.

Cons: 2.5" doesnt fit in a typical desktop but I knew that going into it. Purchased it on sale so fitment didn't matter. Its actually been dangling by the cords for a year and no problems.

Other Thoughts: I'm investing in a 3.5in adapter to fit the drive in.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat, while it lasted...

Pros: Worked fine for a few months, sped up load times on an old AMD 939 system for the duration it functioned.

Cons: Died, completely without warning. SMART status still reported "Good", yet it started to make the click of death randomly and then died immediately afterwards. Is not readable by anything.

It lasted ~2 months and I paid $30 for it on sale, so I'm not overly annoyed. At the current price point, however, I would urge caution to prospective buyers. Yours could be just fine, or you could get unlucky like I did.

Other Thoughts: Usually refurb items from Newegg are just fine, this is the first one I've had fail me so completely and quickly.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Fast boot speed and low noise make this purchase a "no brainer".

Cons: This drive may be a refurb but I have always had good luck with WD.

Cons: inadequately refurbished; WD VelociRaptor I'll never buy anything refurbished again. learned my lesson here. Drive failed just over a year after purchase. just outside the warranty. thanks!

5 out of 5 eggsBest deal.

Pros: I purchased this HDD during cyber monday sales for a great price. On my budget I wouldn't normally go for this, I'd probably do a mix and match of an SSD and a 7200 RPM. It has worked wonderfully. No strange noises, no worrying heat.

Cons: Would like to see a better price on HDD like this some day.

1 out of 5 eggsDead

Pros: It shows up in the BIOS

Cons: After telling Windows Vista to initialize it in Disk Manager then proceeded to a quick format, it got stuck. Cancel never worked. I rebooted, and Windows freezes every time I log on as long as the hard drive is connected to my motherboard. Disconnecting it fixes the issue. DO NOT BUY!

Other Thoughts: At least I got a 1-2 year warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed with Newegg!!

Pros: It's a hard drive.

Cons: I bought it thinking it was a notebook drive. It's not a notebook drive. Why was it listed as such? I can't return it because it was a refurb unit.

Other Thoughts: Good customer service would have caught this error and saved me time!

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: I purchased this to raid with my other 300g raptor drive for gaming. Plug in play all the way, setup was easy and worked great with my current drive.

Cons: At first I didn't see the "2.5" I was paying more attention to the specs then the size, wish they advertised the size better, for a full size case and gaming I would have much rather had the full size hard drive.
