5 out of 5 eggsGreat drives

Pros: Had 2 of these got 2 more now, they're really fast, and don't heat up as bad as previous models. Currently have them in 2 Raid 0 Arrays (2 separate controllers for now, need new motherboard for RAID 5). They are deffinetly faster than my Maxtor ATA 133 ones (one Raid 0 of those too). Great for storage, and over 44 MBps while I'm doing other stuff.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Fast, a lot of storage, and cheap.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your time.

Pros: There is -NOTHING- good about this HD.

Cons: 1. Label doesnt show jumper settings. Is it that expensive to print jumper settings on label? Come on.
2. Failed four times during windows install.
3. After finally getting this HD to work, it:
3a. It would not load windows.
3b. Half the time it would not load into safe mode.
3c. This HD ran extremely hot. If you want something that will last, this wont running as hot as it does.

Other Thoughts: Complete waste of my time. I wasted a full day of my weekend trying to get this thing to work.

I will -NEVER- buy a maxtor ever again.

Props to Newegg, fast fast FAST delivery and everything packed excellent. Newegg rocks.

1 out of 5 eggsSIGH

Pros: works great when it works

Cons: the first one i got was doa. sent it back and got a one that worked. then a few months later i got one more for a raid 0 config. worked for a couple months than craped out. i got a rma again and the sent me one that was 320 not the 250 i needed. so now i cant raid 0 but only raid 1. so im kinda out 250 gigs or 233.97 gigs. if ither one of these craps out again maxtor can keep there bad stuff all to them selves.

Other Thoughts: i wouldnt have been so mad but im getting tired of calling the middle east to re activate my windows. and to reinstall at least 100gigs of data.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Drives

Pros: None that I can really think of

Cons: I have used about 5 of these hard drives varying in different sizes. Had to send back 3 of them because they were dead when I recieved them. One I had just recently die after 3 months of operation and I'm curious whether I even want to send it back in. It really isn't even worth it to tell you the truth

Other Thoughts: After spending xxx + dollars with maxtor, I will no longer choose to buy their merchandise.

1 out of 5 eggsReplacement Drive Fails in you guessed it 2 Weeks

Pros: fast quiet drive, if it stayed working. excellent/fast rma process threw maxtor

Cons: this drive must have a major defect. 2 drives fail within a months time is unaceptable

Other Thoughts: this is like saying its ok for a cpu manufacture to make the same kind of crxxy product as what maxtor is. where would intel, AMD be if they did the same as maxtor? Will never ever buy another product from this company again. i suggest everyone do the same.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive

Pros: Very quite and it pushes data faster beacuse of the 16mb buffer, than my SATA Raid 0 with 8mb buffers.

Cons: No directions or label telling you how to jumper for SATA1.5.

Other Thoughts: You need to jumper ouns 1-2 to get SATA1.5.

3 out of 5 eggsJust OK

Pros: I bought 2 of these drives, and configured them for SATA2. I had no trouble configuring them. They are fast. I tested them by moving large files 4-8 GB from drive to drive. For what it's worth, windows reported 20MB per second.

Cons: One drive started failing, within 30 days. Unfortunately, I could not isolate the problem until it failed completely. I have had no problems (yet) with the other drive.

Other Thoughts: Maxtor is cross shipping a replacement. I call that good customer service for consumer product.

5 out of 5 eggsDa Crazy

Pros: It's fast
Reliable... so far...
It's SATA2 c'mon it's quick as hell...
run mad quiet and cool

Cons: Windows XP does not recognize it at first you need to partition it... luckily Maxtor guys figured that out... just go to the website and download MAXBLAST4 after u installed it... it will detect, and partition it for you...
sadly instead of 250... itll be bumped down to 232GB... boo!

Other Thoughts: It's up to you... the drive was cheap, it's SATA... I got it and loved it...
