4 out of 5 eggsPlenty of space

Pros: Lot's of space, little fuss. What more can a man ask for in his HDD?

Cons: First drive was DOA on arrival, newegg shipped out a second within a week

Other Thoughts: Kudo's to Newegg for quick response and good customer service.

5 out of 5 eggsMy first SATA

Pros: Fast and big (at least from where I'm coming from). What more can I say?

Cons: I'll let you know after I get my first bad sector.

Other Thoughts: This is my first SATA drive so my point of reference is limited to Parallel ATA. Make sure you remove the jumper on it to set to 3GB/s (if you ports can handle it. Save the jumper in case you don't. It's small and real easy to lose). I would love to see this thing in RAID setup. Maybe when I get more money...

5 out of 5 eggsHappy Happy JOY JOY

Pros: Very nice HDD, not loud at all next to my 9 fans, lol. Maxtor has always have been dependable.

Cons: None. Its OEM, what do you expect?

Other Thoughts: To the person who said that its 1.5Gb/s you are dead wrong! Get some reading glasses or something. It explains it right on the HDD itself on how to make the switch with the jumpers!

5 out of 5 eggsDrive is good

Pros: Great drive

Cons: newegg has started charging more for the OEM drive than the same drive in local stores with retail packaging (got one for the same price from the store down the street today)

Other Thoughts: retail version includes a utilities CD that has drive mirroring software on it (you don't get it with this OEM drive)

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quick, Quiet, Easy to connect, cheap.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I used 2 of these in a raid zero array, and installed windows xp on them. I have a P4 2.8ghz on an asus p4c800e-deluxe mobo, with 3gigs of ram, it is quick enough for anything i am doing, and I can use these hard drives when I upgrade to a dual core.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It works. Not DOA.

Cons: Only shows as 1.5Gb/s, not 3.0Gb/s. Samsung drives in the same machine, same port, same cable show 3.0Gb/s. Not sure what that's all about. 1.5Gb/s is still 192 MB/s which is faster than it'll ever actually go, so I guess it's not a big deal.

Runs 5 degrees celsius warmer than larger Samsung drives in the same machine in the same configuration.

It is rather noisy.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: Bought 2 for RAID 0. Running 24x7 without issues for a month.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: People like "The End" who write reviews and claim a "high" tech understanding make me mad. READ about what you are buying! OEM means you will just get the DRIVE ONLY! Also, claiming to have to spend $20 extra dollars for a cable....you CANNOT be talking about a $1.00 sata cable! High understanding "The End" is NOT!

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: Fast, cheap, reliable. I got this drive for my first build and it is running great.

Cons: Not really, besides the fact that its OEM...

Other Thoughts: It's OEM people, don't expect it to come in the manufacturer's box with all the accessories!

5 out of 5 eggsStorage Dream

Pros: One of the best buys for the money, I got 4 of these little wonders and did a RAID 5 setup which has worked out great. The speed and dependablity is great, wonderful workman ship and when I ran a checkdisk to find and mark bad sector there was not a single one in the lot.

Cons: None that I can think of

Other Thoughts: If I had the money I'd buy 2 500 gig drives and setup a mirrowed storage array so I could do a complete system backup.
