Absolutely worth buying
- Pros: Im going to cut to the chase here by talking about the important things you must know about this product.
First, there is absolutely no hassle when trying to set up the hard drive using windows xp. Just plug the ac adapter and connect the usb to the computer and you have your new hard drive ready in use. Secondly, the tube colors are beutiful to the eye, the lights turn to almost 10 different colors. You can set the colors you want to what ever you like and you have the option to turn off the light... but why would someone turn these beuties off? I chose to leave them on for my convenience.
Thirdly, you have so much space available to store all your files. It took me about 2 or 3 minutes to transfer 2.5 GB using the USB cable. I havn't tried using the firewire so maybe using the firwire might be much faster than using the USB. Still, it's fast when transfering data.
Fourth, the price of the product is a very good deal compared to all other hard drive products I've browsed through.
- Cons: There is just one very small tiny problem with it which is the weight of the product. Im not saying its heavy but its just alittle heavier than what I expected when I recieved it.
- Other Thoughts: There IS a power switch button where you can turn on and off the hard drive. Some people posted that there isn't an on/off power button and that is not true.
When you use the hard drive for the first time, you must switch the format from FAT32 TO NTFS.
That is all that is need to be known about this amazing product and I definitely recommend it to everyone... especially if your worried about money, this is the product for you.

- Pros: This thing is a fine piece of machinery. You can't even believe how quiet and cool it is. My last external drive... which died in like two months... was crazy hot and pretty loud. This one is entirely different... I'd probably forget i had it on my desk if it weren't for the sweet lights. Transfer speed is pretty good too
- Cons: I kind of wish you could stand it up vertically

Excellent HardDrive for everyone
- Pros: Great Drive. You can't go wrong with this one. It has fair enough storage space. Works fast. I have it for almost a month now and it has been on all the time. It's almost full and it still works like a charm.
- Cons: None.

- Other Thoughts: I currently own two of these drives. One is currently in use and the other is with WD.
After around two weeks with my first one (brand new), a partition on the drive crashed and I lost all my data. On top of that, the drive was experiencing some electrical problems. I immediately sent it to WD for a replacement and got a refurb in return. The refurb was in such poor condition that I sent that back and I'm currently waiting for another replacement.
I bought a second drive as a backup to this and it's currently working fine, for now.
I don't get why WD's policy is to replace a customer's defective product, which is brand new and out of the box, with a refurb. I just hope that the next replacement that I get is not in as poor condition as the one I originally got.

- Other Thoughts: I had one oof these before, but it was alittle different, it turned out there were 2 versions of this, one that don't have a switch and this one, which have it. I really didn't feel like buying this because i couldn't shut off my old one, buy brought it becauase i wanted all my drives to look the same. but I end getting more that what i expected, so without a doubt Buy it!
