5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I was upgrading an older computer with new Foxconn MB, AMD CPU, Crucial memory, and I already had two HDDs in the computer, one (SATA) drive with Win7 and one (IDE) with Ubuntu Linux installed. My new MB has numerous SATA ports, along with one IDE port (that can handle two drives). I loaded Win XP onto this Maxtor drive, and now I have a machine that can triple-boot into Win7, XP, or Ubuntu---changeable by entering Boot Sequence during POST.

Even though it was refurbished, it seems to work just fine for my purposes.

Cons: None thus far.

4 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Good price on 250Gb pata drive.

Cons: 1 of 2 refurbished drives bought was DOA as I expected with buying refurbished produt. RMA shipping cost was 50% of the cost of the drive, which seems unfair to pay return shipping on defected products.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes Not Have Locking

Pros: It has an IDE port.

Cons: It doesn't have locking. QuickView is Maxtor's term for "weak sauce version of the original" and so features have been removed.

1 out of 5 eggsProduct Mis-Listed/Mis-Identified

Pros: May work well for this hard drives intended application.

Cons: Should be labeled as "Maxtor QuickView 10 6L250R0 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA133 / ATA-7 3.5" Hard Drive -Bare Drive"

I have researched the QuickView hard drives, and I believe that these hard drives were intended for digital video recorders (DVRs), personal video recorders (PVRs), set-top boxes (STBs), and the like.

Other Thoughts: Picture does show as a "QuickView" while it is listed as a "DiamondMax". These are two very different animals.
