5 out of 5 eggsEnergizer Bunny

Pros: I bought at least a dozen of these.

Still have most of them.

Zero failures.

Cons: Discontinued

Other Thoughts: The capacity seemed infinite when I bought them. Now with SSDs, 250GB is large again.

Too bad they are no longer available.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid!!

Pros: Bought this HDD in 2006 and it still works perfectly, no signs of failure what so ever. Also, very fast read and write speed, it outperforms newer hard drives partly due to its large cache size and smaller capacity! Perfect for OS!

Cons: NONE

5 out of 5 eggsLongevity

Pros: Has performed exceptionally well for almost 5 years.

Cons: Could've been cheaper, but I can't and won't complain.

Other Thoughts: System drive over a (probably) faster Caviar black 1TB drive I bought 6 months ago, this thing has never skipped a beat. For it's time you couldn't get better. Just had to give mad props to WD. And great service on their other products as well, HOLLA!
P.S> I.m hardware support tech for an awesome IT MSP in my region. WD service seals the deal.

2 out of 5 eggsDied

Pros: It worked ok while it did.

Cons: Most hard drives I buy die after a year or so, I do have 1 that has made it about 10 years.

Other Thoughts: I have bought every different brand of HD out of 10 2 still work.

5 out of 5 eggsReliability

Pros: I've had two running in RAID 0 for just about 2yrs without a problem. Worked straight out the bubble wrap w/ no need for fancy packaging.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'm still wondering if two of these in RAID 0 is faster than the 10k Raptor I just put in my most recent build. Price is comparable when you consider the need to buy two HDD's vs. one.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Has worked great for me for over a year. Great for a cheap build.

Cons: It's not a Raptor

2 out of 5 eggsDon't expect more than two years

Pros: Affordable, fast, quiet

Cons: Failed miserably after only two years. MTBF ratings are useless.

Other Thoughts: I'm an idiot for not backing up data more often. Replacing it with two 250GB Seagates running RAID 1. My PSU (Antec Smartpower 450) failed first, so I'm not sure if it caused the HD failure, or contributed to it, but either way I'm buying a lot of PC parts these days.
