Cons: Continuously running therefore it gets very hot.
Other Thoughts: They should make it like other HD that goes to sleep if it idles for so many minutes.

Rating: 5/5so far so good
Pros: I have been copying 1.5 TB in one go... still copying and it is still ok :) Can not complain so far. No issues with start up, just connected and it works. I use windows 7. and it is CHEAP!
Cons: probably, this is the common issue with usb HDs: can not get more than 26 MB/sec from one usb to another one copying big files :(
Other Thoughts: light, can be set both vertically and horizontally, quite, starts fast from sleep mode (faster than WD mybook I have got)

Rating: 5/5Great Drive So Far
Pros: The drive has surprising high transfer rate, but you must use the turbo software that it comes with to attain the speed. Otherwise, it will be slower than any of your other external USB drives. Also, I do not hear any objectionable noise during operation which some people have complained about.
Cons: This 7200rpm drive does run continuously & does get warm. It has no active cooling, but depends on convection cooling via housing vent holes. Remember that this is not a notebook drive plus it is mucho high density so dont mess with it while it is running (ie, cause it to fall over - vertical to horizontal, etc.)
Other Thoughts: In terms of the raw HDD, user on some of the technical forums report that this is not a bad drive. People seem to have better luck with this Hitachi than they have had with either Seagate or even WD. Finally, be careful with the connection cables (power & USB) as they are very thin & the connectors (especially the USB) seem rather delicate.

Pros: High Capacity.
Cons: Comes with cheap software that "guarantees high speed data transfer" which is never true. Accidently bumped the drive slightly and lost all of my data, had to tear drive apart to recover files forensically.
Other Thoughts: Too expensive for bad quality.

Rating: 4/5Hmmm...Think before you buy.
Pros: Great Value. Lots of space at a great price here on Newegg. Drive is quiet enough for me, only warm to the touch so it doesn't worry me too much and is for the most part pretty quick...at least on the quicker side of most usb 2 enclosed drives.
Cons: ONE, yes...ONE year warranty, -1 egg for that alone. Case is seemingly cheap, ie: it feels cheaply made compared to others. It's not a huge con at all.
Other Thoughts: I'm just beyond returning mine to the store I purchased it from or I would. I just want to let potential buyers know that this drive has an unbelievable 1 year manuf. warranty. Nowadays when you buy an external or internal you almost automatically expect it to have 3-5 warranty years on them. Well, this was an expensive mistake for me. I assumed, and I never checked until I saw this deal on Newegg and considered getting another one. You search up and down here and there's no mention of the warranty, there's a reason for that! Go on over to Hitachi and you can see the warranty on the SimpleDrives are 1 year :/. I had to check 'elsewhere' for the warranty as the drive isn't even on Hitachi's site.
Anyway, you have an important decision to make. Chance getting this 2TB with 1 year warranty, or buy it with Neweggs extended warranty which brings it to more than other 2TB drives which include 2-3 years manuf. warranty.
Good Luck.

Rating: 2/5Constantly spins
Pros: Lots of storage at a good price. Looks very nice. The enclosure itself is one of the nicest I've seen.
Cons: The drive stays spinning as long as the USB is powered, not just when files are being accessed/transferred. I emailed Hitachi and they said that is the way it is designed. It's too bad because otherwise this is a nice drive.
The connector for the USB was loose to the point it stopped working. I pulled it apart, bent the clip down and now it works fine.
Other Thoughts: Two easily corrected flaws and this would be a great external drive. As it stands, it is a big disappointment.

Rating: 5/5Great Drive
Pros: Transfer speed on par or better than other typical external USB HDDS, but to get it, you need to install the Turbo USB software that comes with the drive. Otherwise, drive operation is very quiet.
Cons: The drive seems to run cooler in the stand up mode, but with the small footprint stand provided, the drive could easily fall over during operations (eg, platform it is on is bumped). So laying flat is preferred.
Other Thoughts: Tests on transferring video to external HDD with & w/o Turbo indicate a substantial difference (eg, 4min 36 sec versus 8min 15 sec). With turbo the transfer is 17% faster than the same file transfer to an external Iomega 160 2.5" USB HDD. So performance increases are seen to range from 17% to 47% (25% is advertised). Also, the Turbo USB is an installed program & shows up as such in add/remove software so it is readily removable. Oh yes, there was a complaint here about Turbo USB not being enabled unless one reboots the computer with the drive online. To fix it so that it operates like most people want/expect, disable its startup in MSCONFIG. Now once booted, any time the big drive is turned on & registered, just click the Turbo USB desktop icon & you will have the Turbo Driver activated. Also, turning off or disconnecting the big drive & then turning it back on or reconnecting it in the same session will automatically re-establish the Turbo USB drive in the Turbo mode. No reboot need

Got Storage

Rating: 4/5Not bad for 2TB
Pros: Lots of storage for the money.
Cons: Wall wart power adapter. Runs warm, but that's to be expected for a 2TB.
Other Thoughts: Purchased locally (found it on new egg but needed it quickly), as my WHS backups required more space, and I use an external drive to back it up. Was using a 1TB WD, but was maxed out at roughly 910GB. Backed up the whs to the Hitachi, changed the drive config in the whs, and loaded the backup back on the whs, 14 hours of usage, no problems so far.
