5 out of 5 eggsJust about the Best deal out

Pros: -price
-500gb half what I wanted but still good
-Speed of 7200rpm
-Its lightweight and a little thinner than others

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: I was praying and crossing my fingers hoping that this hard drive would work. Booted it up, loaded windows, and became the most happiness person on earth. I had the drive for almost a month waiting to see if it had work. Didn't want a DOA. Worked out just fine.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works. Doesn't make awesome click click sound. Worth the $69.99 I spent on it.

Cons: $69.99 on sale for 500gb few months ago 69.99 could get you 1.5tb.

Other Thoughts: Best price per gb I found and works well for the short amount of time I had it.

1 out of 5 eggs2/2 DOA - Deathstars all over again?

Pros: They smelled new.

Cons: I bought 2 to put in a small business mirrored array and both would were DOA. 1 would not detect and the other intermittently detected about 60% of the time. After trying them on 2 other computers, I verified that I had 2/2 DOA Hard Drives. I booted up some Seagates and they worked like a champ.

I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt after I stopped using them a few years ago when they were rightfully so nicknamed "Deathstars". I guess I'll stick to my Old Faithfuls Western Digital and Seagate.

Other Thoughts: I build several computers every month and rarely come across 2 bad hard drives in the same batch. I may give them the benefit of the doubt sometime in the future, but for this batch, I am not pleased. They cost me an afternoon and 2 trips to a local shop that charged me 40% more. Oh well, so is life. Stick with WD/Seagate IMO.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive

Pros: 7200 RPM, 500GB capacity
IT WORKS!
Excellent drive for the price, considering the flood drove up hard drive prices like crazy.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought this drive after receiving a Western Digital drive that was DOA. I love this drive and couldn't be happier. I don't need a ton of storage (I've only ever used maybe 120GB in the past) but I love having the ability to store as much as I could ever need.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly

Pros: Excellent drive for a great price. Responds well to multitasking and runs very quietly. I had Hitachi drives previously that usually lasted for over 7 years, so I decided to give this one a shot as well. Great value overall.

Cons: None thus far

5 out of 5 eggsHitachi Drive

Pros: Drive works great and I have had zero problems with it.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I used Acronis imaging software to format the drive before I used it and then copied an existing PATA drive to this drive. Next I checked out the average current draw for all the cards and drives I had to make sure my power supply had room to spare. The MOBO says the voltage has been stable and the CPU is cool running. That means the Hard Drive is in a clean working system. In other words do your home work first before just slapping in a drive and then complaining that it does not work.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Purchase on Black Friday

Pros: Needed a SATA drive for a new build and got this for $50 during Black Friday sales. Arrived well packaged and shock protected. (Good on 'ya Newegg!) The drive has been working flawlessly since. Have used WD drives prior to the flooding problems, but I am happy with this drive to date. Would purchase another at that price point.

Cons: None to date

Other Thoughts: Recent reviews of WD drives seem to show a lot of problems with DOA merchandise. Could this be a problem with recent production after the flood?
