Pros: Dependable. Solid case, with excellent cooling.

Cons: This is the model which lacks the Thunderbolt port. Given that the option is open to purchase a drive with Thunderbolt, that can not be classed as a con.

Other Thoughts: I currently have four of these drives, and am now shopping for a fifth. Only on one drive did I hit an unrecoverable data message. All I had to do was reformat the drive and reload it. It again is running perfectly. The activity light, once one gets accustomed to it, signals most every state each drive is in. Very useful. Noise is not an issue as long as the drive is sitting on a stable surface.

Pros: Moderate speed. No issue.

Cons: Loud. I just unpacked two of these and I could hear them with the TV 20 feet away. Maybe my hearing is just too good, but it's too loud for me. To add insult, there is a very bright flashing light on the front. Really??!! Why??!! I'm not talking a dim indicator, a bright flashing light. Be warned.

Pros: Quick to set up, easy to use. I purchased this drive for my XServe to function as a Time Machine backup drive for a 3TB volume. I was able to carve the 6tb volume into chunks to serve different purposes, ie. Data, Time Machine, Software repository. Haven't had any issues as of yet. Firewire 800 connection is fast. I'm considering buying another one for home use.

Cons: None that I found.

Pros: Good quality casing
Silent Fan
Fast e-sata option
Acceptable Write/Read rates with onboard e-sata port, but truly shines with 4-ports e-sata raid card.

Cons: It clearly prefers Mac out of the box. Formatting for windows is not hard but takes long long hours.

I took out a star because as someone who paid for the item just like a mac user, I should be able to use it directly out of the box on my windows platform.

Other Thoughts: Would be nice to have an option to buy a "pre formatted for windows version". Sounds like a fair deal really.
