Cons: when it acually started to get use ,it died ....at least in the case

Other Thoughts: i was past warranty so i decided to disassemble the case and connect to my desktop it its just a little laptop hdd basically so a sata cable and a sata power cable or sata to molex adapter all that are needed low n behold it works perfect, still has all files and still working in my desktop (silent too) .so case sucks the usb converter dies for some reason .the hdd is fully fuctional and works well out side of case

1 out of 5 eggsStay away from HGST drives.

Pros: The original drive I ordered was used about a half a dozen times to take system images. Performance was decent.

Cons: The first drive failed within the warranty period, so it was RMA'd. I received a second drive from the manufacturer, which was completely DOA. For a second time, I visited the post office and spent money to have the drive returned. The third drive I received sat securely on my desk for about a month after it was delivered, until I had cause to use it. After about ten minutes, it started clicking and my transfer rate dropped to zero. I did process a third RMA through HGST, though my corresponding email has gone unanswered. I have enough confidence that my fourth drive will not work, that I will probably not even bother with the RMA. At this point, the frequent trips to the post office are nothing more than a waste of my time.

Other Thoughts: I had to give this a one-star rating, because that is Newegg's minimum.

1 out of 5 eggsAre You Kidding Me?!!

Pros: None

Cons: I think this is the first time I've looked at a product's reviews here and seen every single review claim the product didn't work on arrival or died very soon after, and now I'm adding my own review with the same complaint. Windows 7 will not recognize this drive. After plugging it in the first time I got the little taskbar icon notice that the drive was ready for use, but it did not show up as a drive under My Computer or under Disk Management in Administrative Tools. So what am I suppose to do with it?

Other Thoughts: Tried rebooting computer, warm and cold reboots, hoping for a little miracle, but my computer would not start Windows with the drive plugged in. It would just hand on the 'starting windows' message until I unplugged the drive. And unfortunately I waited too long to try using the drivem so it's now past the Newegg warranty date. Hitachi should be ashamed of itself, and if Newegg has any integrity they will stop selling this useless paperweight. (Oh, and maybe I''m being paranoid, but this is the one item that for some reason does NOT appear in my list of items purchased here, even though I DID purchase it here, I wonder why...)

1 out of 5 eggsDied after a handful of uses

Pros: It was cheap and on sale. No need for a power cord since it only uses USB.

Cons: Bought it for a friend and he used it probably less than 10 times and now it just clicks a bunch before spinning up but the computer never recognizes it.

1 out of 5 eggsJUNK!!!

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: Failed within a few days

Other Thoughts: How could a company like Hitachi make such a piece of junk. You try to stay with "brand" names and look what happened. I would consider it an anomaly with mine, but look at the rest of the reviews. Stay away.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless disguised Hitachi drive

Pros: None, Zero

Cons: This is the most worthless device I have ever owned. First drive lasted approx. 10 days and died. Returned to Newegg after a hassle and now the 2nd device has failed after only one week. From the case you can feel the drive spinning but unable to communicate with device using either Win XP or Win 7. I cannot believe Hitachi a highly reputable company would place it name on such a sorry piece of made in China junk. I have purchased many things from Newegg but this is the first piece of worthless junk I have ever received. There return process to absolutely too long and cumbersome.

Other Thoughts: No one should buy this worthless device however should you do so you may find that you have made a tremendous mistake after storing critical data and then be unable to access.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Sectors Immediately

Pros: Affordable, blinking blue activity light, good USB connection that hasn't wiggled loose.

Cons: I had "Read Errors" which turned out to be bad sectors the first time I used it. I cannot complete a check disk, and I cannot do a low level (i.e. slow) format. I have had countless other hard drives of different brands and connection types , and this is the least reliable and most disappointing.

Other Thoughts: Seagate has always had reliable hard drives, in my opinion. Newegg has A+ speed and service.
