Pros: Came fast, wrapped nice.

Cons: won't clone from my old hard drive on my asus u33jc-a1 laptop

Other Thoughts: apparently this drive is advanced format and will not be cloned from my old laptops hard drive due to sector sizes being inconsistent. what the hell? at worst i guess i just bout myself a fast 1tb external hard drive. not at all what i wanted it for. wanted to clone my old drive onto this as a replacement.

if there is any help available ill rate it five eggs, but for now only 3.

i've read about other travelstar drives having 512e to emulate 512 for backwards capacity, doesn't look like this has it though

Pros: High capacity - Somewhat quick

Cons: Bought it in January and failed in May. Have turned on the laptop 4 times since installed. Failed with bad sectors just spinning.

A competing brand will give me a prepaid return label. With HGST, I have to ship it to them at my cost.

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 at the same time. The other one seems to work fine.

Pros: Fast, big performance improvement and overall, quality. I popped this bad boy in earlier and put it through the factory reset disks I have for my PC, installed everything and now I'm playing games and going through files in a blast. Also, to find a laptop hard-drive with this amount of memory and speed is near impossible so if you're looking for this type of HDD don't delay and just get this bad boy!

It fits any modern laptop as far as I know and if you have factory recovery discs than all you need to set this up is the discs and the HDD, easy install.

Cons: None so far.

Pros: Fast shipment, as described.

Other Thoughts: I added this drive to a desktop. I replaced the 3.5" 1 tb drive with a 2.5" 250mb SSD and this 1tb drive.

Pros: The speed of this drive is a big draw. Compared to the slower drives I used to use, this makes backups a joy instead of a chore. The fact that it is fully powered via the USB port is a nice bonus. No need to lug around a power cable.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: None.

Pros: Makes the old HDD it replaced look like a slug. (Not that it was that hard to do anyway.)
Makes for a nice storage upgrade.

Cons: None, except the fact that I wish it was bigger, but what geek doesn't want that?

Other Thoughts: This was a replacement for the original HDD in a Sony Vaio (VPCF136FM) that is my main machine at the moment. It's running like a champ and has storage to spare.

Other Thoughts: To those that think that they are not getting the full capacity of the drive.

Hard Drive Manufacturers calculate the size of a drive based on 1000 Bytes (i.e 1TB = 1000 * 1000 * 1000 * 1000 = 1,000,000,000,000).

While your Operating System reports drive size based on 1024 Bytes. (i.e 1TB = 1024 * 1024 * 1024 * 1024 = 1,099,511,627,776)

If you take the Hard Drive Manufacturers size and divide it by 1073741824, the most you can expect is 931 GB.

Pros: -Fast
-Standard small size (fits Alienware m17x r4 perfectly)
-Doesn't get too hot.

Cons: Only shows as 931GB...although someone else mentioned that they got 961GB. Either way, I know that Some space "missing" is expected, but thats a lot of loss.

Other Thoughts: With technology the way it is in recent years, you'd think that HDD's would show in the system as advertised on the box.

Pros: super fast drive. noticeable speed increase.

Cons: only 961 GB.

Pros: I have a number of bare 9.5mm hard drives that I use externally with a Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt adapter on my Mac. Using that setup, I tested this drive with the Blackmagic Design Disk Speed Test app.

This drive averaged about 127MB/s Write and 131MB/s Read.

For comparison, my next-fastest 9.5mm drive (also 7200RPM) clocks in at roughly 60MB/s Write, 60MB/s Read.

Obviously, this drive is incredibly fast.

As others have noted, the drive I received is better than what is in the product description. It has a 32MB cache and 6GB/s SATA connection.

Cons: I have only just taken the drive out of its box to test it, so I can't comment as to its longevity.
