5 out of 5 eggsGood Is Better, but Better is Best.

Pros: High Performance 7200 RPM for faster data access. Massive Capacity Up to 1TB of storage space which is a plus for me and best-in-class shock tolerance.Great performance by all standard. It doesn't make noise. It doesn't heat. It's a good buy.

Cons: No cons at all

Other Thoughts: Replaced my Hitachi 160GB 5200 rpm which was so slow and heats unnecessarily. I crush later on. Saw this as a good and a high upgrade for my old HP G62 and It been faster than before.

5 out of 5 eggsFast, quiet, runs cool

Pros: Paired with an ORICO 2595US3-RD 2.5" aluminum case, which makes a GREAT heat sink. No rattles. Ran the full HGST test suite and the long windows format. No errors and stayed cool. Always test a new drive the hard way. Oddly, never had a bad drive until a SG failed after six years. Will start putting in desktop PS's because of low power and speed.

Cons: Not a single one.

Other Thoughts: Raptors burn up in encloses often. They are fast but noisily too. I like this drive because it hits the sweet spot.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HDD, Horrible RMA process

Pros: Fast hard drive (I upgraded from a 5400 RPM drive), lots of space, pretty much everything you could want from a drive.

Cons: No cons with the hard drive itself (see other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: I know hard drives always have the possibility to fail randomly, that's just the nature of the beast, however you should hope that yours doesn't fail. While HGST will hand you the RMA if it's still under warranty, their return process is insane.

Their shipping requirements are incredibly strict, and they warn that not following them exactly will result in your warranty being voided upon arrival. This wouldn't be such a big deal except they don't really allow for any packaging materials that are readily available in my area, and I'm going to end up spending almost $30 just on packaging, and I still have to pay for shipping itself.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that I can return my faulty drive for a replacement, but I'd like it if HGST could have a bit looser packaging restrictions (A simple addition of air pouches (the material Newegg shipped the drive to me in the first place) to the accepted list would do wonders) or at least offer free return shipping.

5 out of 5 eggsGood drive so far

Pros: This drive is faster than Toshiba drive it replaced. It is quiet and runs barely warm. I used it with SATA to USB adapter to clone failing drive and it was barely warm after 30 minutes running. It is a little louder than 5400 RPM drives but it is also faster. The price was good so over all I am very happy.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: I normally buy WD drives and never had a problem with them. This drive I got on sale to replace failing Toshiba drive that was in my laptop. I hope that this drive is as reliable as WD drives have been.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding laptop drive

Pros: Outstanding performance boost for a laptop. I just purchased another one from the Egg for my HP Pavillion DV9700 CTO, and getting ready to order two more for my Toshiba and Acer. Upgraded all of my laptops to Blu-ray and these drives are great for saving digital copies of movies. Also, the three year parts/labor warranty is great for a small form factor drive. Have always used HGST drives in my laptops and desktop systems.

Cons: None, nada, nil, zilch...

Other Thoughts: Have not found a more reliable drive for the price point. Thanks Newegg for putting out the great deals!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quick drive, on par with WD Scorpio Black drives. Great read/write speeds. Was a little worried because of the Hitachi rep in the past, but have been pleasantly surprised. Would recommend.

Cons: None so far

5 out of 5 eggsNice Drive, fair price, no warranty????

Pros: 1 TB storage, 2.5" size - Nice and small, lightweight, yet still 7200 RPM and 6 Gigabit throughput. SATA for today's controllers. Small enough to easily fit into my USB to SATA case for use as a backup hard drive.

Cons: No mention of warranty as far as I can see, not even on the manufacturer's website. That's unusual. I would have preferred a clear statement of warranty period but I needed a small, cheap 1 TB 2.5" drive right away so I went ahead and took the risk and bought this drive, hoping that it will last at least a year or two. Crossed fingers.

Other Thoughts: After formatting the drive NTFS, I stuck this drive into a USB to SATA enclosure to use as a USB backup drive for my PC's. Works nicely with throughput at a reasonable speed, considering I was running USB 2.0. Works well for what I needed it for. I would consider using one of these in my laptop PC. I would recommend this drive to a friend with a clear statement that the warranty period is unspecified and therefore there is no assurance of being able to RMA this drive to it's manufacturer. If you want or need a clear statement of the warranty period and assurance of an RMA, then this is NOT the drive for you. Spend more and buy a black drive. Oddly enough, HGST appears to be a subsidiary of WD according to the HGST wesbsite. See link provided by Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsHDD performs great!

Pros: Fast, reliable, great value, a lot of GB.

Cons: None that I have observed.

Other Thoughts: Newegg gave me stellar service and speed as always. I have only had this drive for two weeks, but it is as fast as any other mechanical drive that I have ever owned.
I highly recommend this drive.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!!

Pros: Fast, massive capacity

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: First I have to say how impressed I am with newegg's shipping. I received it a day after placing the order using regular shipping. That was truly impressive.
The drive works smoothly in my PS3. I restored my backed up data and everything is as it was, except that I now have 756GB left instead of 191GB. Sweet.
Not sure if I notice an increase in performance from 5400rpm to 7200rpm but I am sure it's there. Definitely not complaining.
