5 out of 5 eggsWorks great in a desktop

Pros: I have an HP desktop that's a couple years old, kind of strange, the second hard drive bay is for a 2.5 inch drive, not a 3.5 inch (the primary hard drive bay is a standard 3.5 inch bay). I wanted a second hard drive for back up and bought this one. I've been using it for 8 months now, no noise or other problems.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you have a desktop that like mine that doesn't have two 3.5 inch hard drive bays, but a 2.5 inch bay for a second hard drive, consider buying this drive. It's been working good for me.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's a large capacity 7200RPM SATA III spinner.

Pros: Its just a spinner, its SATA III fast, its 7200RPM.
It supports 3D DriveGard
Hitachi makes a solid product.
I have 2 Hitachi Travelstars in my notebook for over 7 years, changing to a SSD and this spinner for storage.

Cons: 7200RPM's are mostly on the edge of read failures and corrections, where a 5400RPM would not be there.
These read/write corrections happen so fast you don't notice any slowdown of performance.
5400RPM's are noticeably slower but don't have the read/write correction rates as do the 7200RPM's.
931.51GB after formatting to NTSF, still a lot more storage than what I had.

Other Thoughts: Great for storage of all your data.
Great price for a solid performer that been tried and tested.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Drive

Pros: Nicw drive. Test pretty fast for a 2.5 in 7200 rpm drive HD Tach test at avg. of 129mb/s with burst speeds of 398mb/s peeked over 400mb/s on burst speed.a few times during testing. Fairly quick access times as well. Nice upgrade from the 500gb 5400rpm drive it replaced. Been running flawlessly for almost a year now.

Cons: Not a one.

5 out of 5 eggsPS4 Drive Upgrade

Pros: Much better performace for ps4 in loading. I replaced a broken ps4 drive and it took 10 min. Finally it has 1 TB plenty for ps4.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: perfect upgrade for PS it even seems to stay more quiet. (hard to notice because PS is loud anyway)

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great, just 1 bug I've never seen before...

Pros: Size,
Form factor,
Price

Cons: This drive (and it may just be in my computer) had a strange problem when formatted as ExFAT, which is that it would occasionally corrupt and need a reformat when the files were accessed too often. Formatting one partition as ExFAT, to store large individual files, worked when I formatted a separate partition as FAT32 for commonly-used not-huge files.

Other Thoughts: Would like to try 2 in Raid 0

5 out of 5 eggsNear Desktop level 7200 RPM performance in a laptop drive

Pros: I'll repeat the headline here: you get near-desktop level 7200 RPM performance in a laptop drive. Fast, reliable, very few early drive failures.

Cons: Look at other reviews to find cons.

Other Thoughts: Despite recommending SSDs to some of the user/owners,I installed the HGST 7K1000 in 6 MacBooks and 9 Thinkpads/Latitudes since it was introduced - and only one ever complained of performance or reliability issues. I lived with it myself from 11/2012 to 2/2015 as a principal HDD in a Dell Precision M6600 and found little to complain about. Few people are asking for spinning hard drives anymore, but the 7K1000 could be the best of breed. Despite that, get one soon if you want one - spinning HDs are not long for this world.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great in PS4

Pros: Installed in my PS4. Noticeably faster than the stock HD and twice the storage space. For a 1TB 7200 RPM you really can not beat the price.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Don't splurge on a SSD for your PS4. The PS4 does not have the SATA bandwidth do support it. This HD is all you need.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Cool, quiet and hasn't failed yet.

Cons: None for me.

Other Thoughts: Still can't beat the bang per buck of mechanical drives. I have purchased three for various PC builds and an external enclosure. Not one has failed yet unlike a couple of other drives from seagate.

5 out of 5 eggsFast little champ

Pros: Bought this drive here on NewEgg for fifty nine $. Great price for this drive considering it's a 1TB in a 2.5" shell and only 9.5mm thick. The 7,200 RPM and 32 MB Cache is a definite speed improvement over any older 5,400 RPM laptop replacement drive. My CrystalDiskMar speed test resulted in 132 MB/s READ and 119 MB/s write scores. Pretty zippy for a little drive! It also has a great shock protection rating which is a big plus for laptops. It does get a little warm to the touch, but that's expected for a 7,200 RPM drive - nothing to be concerned about though. On the upside, it is fairly quiet for a faster drive. I've only had this drive for a few days and it's been working well with Windows 8.1. Hopefully it will last, but time will tell. So far, I would definitely recommend it.

Cons: No cons so far, but time will tell. Hoping for a great run!

2 out of 5 eggsFailed

Pros: Got it for a great deal.....

Cons: It failed after I installed all the updates to windows 7. I am really bumbed. Now I have to go through all the hassle of sending it back to new egg for a refund, oh man.

Other Thoughts: I love shopping through new egg. I just hate the return process. It has only happened a few times over the last eight years that I have been shopping with new egg. Oh well I still love you new egg. What is a relationship without its ups and downs.......
