4 out of 5 eggspassed harddrivetest

Pros: 698 gb in windows vista passed hard drive test from manufacturers website

Cons: hard to get the extra coverage for a year from newegg after reading the reviews

Other Thoughts: if it last for a year will be more then worth the money

5 out of 5 eggsSatisfied

Pros: I have only had this hdd installed for a few days...but everything is as it should be. It's extra storage space for a great price. No problems as of yet. I'll update my review if that changes, but for now I'm happy.

Cons: None really...

Other Thoughts: This hdd runs about 3 degrees warmer than my WD Black hdds no matter where it is positioned. Not really a problem but I thought it was worth mentioning.

1 out of 5 eggsdo not buy

Pros: absolutely none

Cons: DOA.

Other Thoughts: I took a chance, even after reading the few reviews this product has. Well I should have heeded the reviews. This HDD was DOA on arrival. Very frustrating, especially since newegg does not allow refunds for this product.

5 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: Works Great. Quiet in operation. Great bargain in terms of GB / $$ spent

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Purchased as an upgrade for my iMac. When it arrived, I used a SATA to USB conversion rig to copy the drive in the iMac to the new drive before I cracked the case of the iMac. After copying, I Installed the new drive - up and running with 500 GB more space in under an hour

1 out of 5 eggsStay away

Pros: inexpensive

Cons: After 1 week I was unable to write to the drive. I had bought this originally as a secondary data drive to house a VM on. Not multiple VMs, not a ton of files, just 1 VM. It worked fine for the first day. After the second or third day it started pitting (that's when you hear the head bouncing off the platters.... tick, tick, tick). At the end of the first week, the drive would no longer allow for updates to the VM. I tried spinning up a new VM, and it would hang, so I switched the files to my C:\ and voia! it worked Tried recreating again on this drive and nothing. Hard hang for about 10 minutes then an error. The price may be right, but you get what you pay for. Stay away.

Other Thoughts: I was thinking when I bought this, not to. I should have trusted my gut.

1 out of 5 eggsStay away! Junk!

Pros: Umm.. Makes a great (but expensive) paper weight?!?!?

Cons: "Refurbished." I thought that I might get one dead drive so I bought three. None of the drives worked. 0 for 3! Junk!

Other Thoughts: I don't know who "refurbished" this drive, but they are incompetent... Now I get to play RMA with NewEgg and hope that they have 3 drives that actually work in stock. There is no telling how many times I'll have to RMA drives in order to get a working set. I probably should have spent $40 more and gotten new drives.
