4 out of 5 eggsOld War Horse

Pros: Long lived, dependable

Cons: Obselete?

Other Thoughts: Came with a Dell back in 2003, never had any problems except that it's only 120 GB, which I managed to fill eventually. The computer overall shows its age, but I should be able to bring this drive over to the new machine I'm building thanks to its dependability and SATA compatibility.

5 out of 5 eggsgood

Comments: good hard drive, reliable. runs fairly quietly. the only slight complaint was that it was truly 112gb, however its enough anyways. WOULD BUY AGAIN! however probably gonna get the 200 or 250gb version.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: What can I say? It is a fast and quiet drive, great Seagate reliability, at a great price. I have had 2 WD HDDs die out on me (both within a month after the warrantee expired) and I decided to give Seagate a try. What a difference!! Seagate also has a fantastic 5 year warranty. This is my third Seagate drive I have purchased and will certainly make newegg my Seagate source.

4 out of 5 eggs

Comments: I ordered two of these drives from Newegg when I was rebuilding an image processing machine. I set them up in a raid1 using the on board raid controller of my mobo. One of the drives kept dropping out of the raid. I sent it into Seagate and received the replacement without any hassle. The two drives have performed excellent since, and I've just ordered another Seagate 80 gig IDE to replace my failing WD 40gig (3 and 1/2 years old now...and it finally went).

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Great drive, got two running here, quiet, fast, and some of the coldest running drives I have other seen, compared to an older 7200 RPM IDE 80 GB Western Digital drive i have, these things are ice cubes!

5 out of 5 eggsWow..what a drive

Comments: After over 7 months of use and abuse this drive is a HAAS. I have been using this drive in a high dollar security system and it has probabably written over itself at least 100 times with no problems whatsoever. Throw anything you want at this thing, its ready to go

Comments: Awesome harddrive. After buying a very large lump of computer supplies I did have my eye on the 200Gb model, but I went with the 120GB model instead to save money and I don't really have to worry about filling it either. But after getting it in the mail, I love it and would recommend at least Seagate in general, but this harddrive is great for those who want real quaility without getting a huge harddrive and paying for it.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent drive

Comments: I always do extensive research before buying (gotta find the best product for the best price, ya know). This is my second purchase of this drive. I've had the other one for a bout 4 months with no problems. I bought it primarily because I read reviews saying it's quiet (and I agree) and 5 year warranty! I mean, you can beat 5 years of warranty. I've had two IBM Deskstars go bad within 2 years, so warranty was something important to me.

Comments: This drive is very reliable.
I now favor Seagate over Western Digital as I have been having problems and defects with SATA drives they supply lately
Bought this Seagate in November 2003 OEM and running strong.
When I first bought it I thought there may be a problem because I could not hear it start up! I quickly realized this drive has the quiet features Seagate advertises. Mine is definately a quiet one.

Every month or two I run a full CHKDSK /R on the drive and every 6 months or so I will run Extended Test on Drive.

I definately recommend this drive to anyone buying SATA

5 out of 5 eggsSATA with Linux

Comments: I would just like to add something to my last review. These drives now work great with the newer Linux kernels (later 2.4 or 2.6)
