5 out of 5 eggsGreat HDD

Pros: Very reliable, Cache makes a great difference. Data moves very well, no hang ups what so ever and I have been moving 40+gig foldes with no issues.

Cons: None at all.

5 out of 5 eggsGood little traveler.

Pros: Dead quiet drive. Has been ultra reliable so far. Holds up to the standard I have of Seagate drives.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: I bought this drive as an open box item nearly eight months ago to go in a laptop that just decided it had no more will to live. So I plopped it into the enclosure I had bought for the old laptop drive. Well I figured I'd go ahead and drop the bigger Seagate in there instead. So now I've had a trooper of a portable drive that is rock solid and hasn't failed yet. Even at the full price it's a good drive.

1 out of 5 eggsPremature Death

Pros: Quiet.

Cons: Very unreliable. The drive was a replacement for a crashed Toshiba drive in a client's laptop. The new Seagate lasted about two months and totally failed. SeaTools diagnosed the failure as apparently a massive disk crash. Low level format could not recover the drive.

All in all, a complete waste of the client's time and money, data loss, and general grief.

Seagate warranty service is dreadful. They charge you nearly $20 to expedite (cross-ship) a warranty replacement. Otherwise, they take FOREVER to get the new drive to you. Unacceptable. The replacement drive is Certified Refurbished. Buy a new drive, wind up with a used drive... and no warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Hard drive

Pros: Does what a hdd needs to do and does it well.

Cons: No problems

Other Thoughts: A lot of people say this drive is loud but I can't really tell but the notebook I installed this into has loud fans already so I can't tell a difference.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh...

Pros: Performance wasnt TOO shabby, while it worked.

Cons: Failed within 3 weeks.

Other Thoughts: This drive came pre-installed in my Compaq F750US lappy. It was relatively peppy and performed well. So I thought...Almost 3 weeks to the day, I got a SMART Re-Allocated failure. Basically letting me know all the extra backup sectors had been used up due to physical defects on the platter and the drive was about to fail. It did. 3 days later. I fought with HP for over 2 hours to get a replacement, to which I finally decided to just buy my own out of pocket. I picked up the WD Scorpio 160gb SATA drive and have never looked back. The performance of the WD to the Seagate is like night and day. The WD is about 40% faster according to HD-TACH/Sandra and my own testing. I would highly recommend the Scorpio over this.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: My notebook read it right away. Windows XP Pro installed with out a single problem. It's pretty quiet even when under load, and at idle no sound is noticeable.

Cons: None, everything works as expected.

Other Thoughts: The hard drive on my Acer Travelmate 8200 die a couple of weeks ago. So I bought this as a replacement. UPS dropped it off at my door not even a full 3 days after placing my order. I threw out the bad one popped the new one in. Everything worked perfectly so I'm giving this a 5/5.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks beautifully with my PS3

Pros: Works perfectly with my PS3 and a good price for what it offers.

Cons: It is a little noisy, but it's drowned out by the sound of my TV and the PS3's fan.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Runs great. Loving the extra capacity.

Cons: Very audible in a quiet room, almost as if a fan is constantly humming (however they are located in a different part from the noise). My laptop is completely silent except for this drive, and even my old drive (a Seagate 60GB) was completely silent. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from the stock 60GB drive in my Macbook because I ran out of space.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: Large HDD at a good price

Cons: Runs hotter than my stock Toshiba
Kinda loud with odd clicks

Other Thoughts: I usually been please with Seagate drives, and overall I like this one too. I replaced the stock Toshiba 60 GB drive in my MacBook with it, and it's been wonderful. However, the Seagate does run hotter, and every now and then makes some loud clicks. I'm pretty sure it is just the seeker arm moving, but it gives me a heart attack whenever I hear it. I backup all the time now - just in case...
