Pros: Its working great so far its a really great replacement drive.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought this for a replacement drive for a Dell XPS 200 with newer systems you have to install the SATA drivers (from manufactures site) via floppy or flash drive so that you can install XP or Vista. Windows 7 will probably have the drivers and install them during install.

Worked well while it worked

Pros: It worked well for a while. Easy setup (not that it means much referring to a hard drive). Still covered under the 3 yr limited warranty.

Cons: It died on me after just about 1 year. There was really no warning at all, either. This was being used as a boot drive on my desktop with extremely low work loads. The only data stored on this drive was the operating system; it should have lasted longer.

Other Thoughts: I could understand if this was a high capacity drive being used for audio/video editing and/or constant ripping and data migration... but it was not. It really had very minimal use (the desktop isn't even on all that often). This is very disappointing for me; after years of patronage with Seagate (pretty much every other drive I have purchased), I have now ordered a Western Digital drive to replace this one... check the ratings there after about a year or so to see the comparison.

Unreliable piece of hardware

Pros: When it works, it usually works properly. This earned it the 2-stars.

Cons: It inevitably fails. A soft jolt, a power outage during writing, the alignment of the planets upsetting it...these drives are tickign time bombs.

HP ships half of my client's computers with these, and the other half with WD drives. I'd say the hard drive failures are at least 8:1 Barracuda to Caviar. After having to explain to dozens of users that they only way to recover their data is costly data recovery, I can safely say you do not want to buy this hard drive.

Other Thoughts: Go with the WD lineup. Barracuda drives are well-known to have problems.
