1 out of 5 eggs0 for 2, both drives DEAD

Pros: decent while it worked

Cons: I ordered 2 from newegg. 1 died within 2 years, another died today after 3.5 years, half a year after warranty ended. This drive was critical as it contained my entire collection of pictures, music, videos, and documents. Carbonite failed me on the backup-end but that's for another rant. Bottom line is I will never be buying a seagate drive again and will advise my friends/family likewise to whom I give product advice.

2 out of 5 eggsAverage Drive /w Stability Issues in the Long Term

Pros: It performed well enough. Your average hard drive.

Cons: Started having spin up issues after about a year and a half. General instability, even with OS re-image, after about 2 years in.

Replaced recently. Don't think I'll use it as a spare. I haven't been impressed with Seagate and it appears many others are having similar problems.

1 out of 5 eggsComplete Utter Garbage

Pros: Worked fine for about a year

Cons: Its cheap quality that caused this hd to die by the clicking sound.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your time with this seagate. I lost 600gb worth of music, movies, and documentaries I had because of this poorly made drive. If I could i'd give this 0 eggs but unfortunately its not an option. Go buy western digital they are top notch quality.

1 out of 5 eggsNever Again!

Pros: It's a hard drive. Does the job it was meant to do. Seems to be fast, etc.

Cons: Bought this for a new build. Drive died after having it almost a year. Sent it back on RMA and got a replacement that ended up being a refurbished hard drive. One year later, this refurbished one has died. Going to have to RMA this one now. I'll go back to Western Digital when getting hard drives in the future.

3 out of 5 eggsFailing after two years

Pros: worked well for about a year and a half. started to not be recognized by the bios occasionally. bad sectors in the front section of the drive, you know, where windows likes to write the MBR. Blue screen constantly on startup.

Cons: started to not be recognized by the bios occasionally. bad sectors in the front section of the drive, you know, where windows likes to write the MBR. Blue screen constantly on startup.

Other Thoughts: discontinued for a reason.

1 out of 5 eggsLike Many Others - Hard Drive Failure

Pros: Fast, spacious while it worked.

Cons: The drive failed on me in less than 5 months. BIOS failed to recognize the drive one fateful day.

3 out of 5 eggsOlder ones work better

Pros: Good capacity, for not much money, and performance is not bad either. No issues with RAID 1 on a 780G board.

Cons: SATA jumper set to 1.5GB/s. 1 of 3 DOA.

Other Thoughts: Then Newegg tried to refund me less than I paid for a DOA drive.

Pros: I originally had one from a year ago works mint never had a problem.!! Read Cons!

Cons: Just bought one last week, came in and it clicked clicked clicked, bios didnt see the drive.. DOA!! Sent it back for a replacement. In the mean time I bought another cause I didnt want to wait for the replacement and figured I could use two anyways! Well this newer one just came in today and its DOA as well. all it does is click click click, but at least the bios can see this one.. Go figure.. Never again will I be buying this item!!@!

1 out of 5 eggsUpset

Pros: It was fast and spacious.

Cons: Had strange blue screens, PC freezes, and start up issues from time to time. Sometimes it would work flawlessly for some periods, never thought it was my drive that was faulty.

It's now been 6 months and the last time I used it, it was perfectly normal. On the next boot, BIOS could not detect the drive.

Did extensive research and turns out the firmware is defective and ends up becoming bricked -- it locks itself.

Because it is OEM, read that Seagate will not compensate at this point.

Other Thoughts: Data recovery costs $500+ so I will have to attempt to recover it myself.
