3 out of 5 eggsgood but eventual failure

Pros: Served me well as an upgrade for my ps3 since may 2008.
it was quiet, quick, and efficient. not to mention there were no problems with initial install. at the time it was a pretty good price in my opinion also. somewhere between 85 and 110 bucks.

Cons: ps3 wouldnt fully start late on april first. (what a cruel joke it played on me lol.) it read that it couldnt find the correct hard disk all the while i heard the drive making odd scraping noises. i took it out to replace it, as it was all i could do, and it was just like totally worn out, when compared to my much older, and un-used since replaced, 60gb Seagate Momentus 5400.4.

Other Thoughts: i was surprised, i hadnt suspected anthing was wrong. though im very disappointed, because i lost literally like everything, it was a good HDD.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Well as PS3 HDD

Pros: Placed this into my PS3 about a month ago. The HDD has been working really well. PS3 Blue ray laser died and have been working solely off the HDD for about three days. Fast loading and great size for the price. Upgraded from a 60 gig to this, large difference. Extra quiet also!

Cons: None that I have found. Maybe the occasional slow load, but that was likely due to my blue ray drive going bad.

Other Thoughts: Recommended if you are using any of the older generation PS3 HDD (i.e. 40 or 60 gig).

1 out of 5 eggsCheap and poor quality

Pros: It wouldve've been a good price for a hard drive.

Cons: Arrived dead. DOA. Kaputt.

Other Thoughts: Newegg's customer service was great as usual. Painless RMA.
I'll stick with Hitachi in the future. Too bad all my drives are Seagate.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointment of service reliability

Pros: Looks pretty.

Cons: Drive came inside an Iomega portable drive case. Unit failed after using it less than one month. Made only one super important backup. Accessed the drive less than five times. Unit died without any indication of pending failure. Cannot send uit back for repain for obvious reasons. Files are too important.

Other Thoughts: I gave up using Seagate drives, IDE and Sata, years ago because of unreliability. If I had known that there was a Seagate drive inside the Iomega case I would have never purchased it. I have been using Western Digital drives since I started building my own computers more than 25 years ago. Never a failure!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Worked great, installed without a hitch. I bought it to replace a corrupted hard drive in a friends computer and it was actually cheaper than the replacement hard drive that was only 160 GB.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: wasn't DOA, and didnt die after arrival ... cant ask for much more.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Obviously small and sleek. Makes no noise, not that you would hear it in a FAT PS3. Easy to pop in and install, reformat and transfer files.

Cons: Nothing but perfect, thus far.

3 out of 5 eggsFails after short period

Pros: Good drive speed.

Cons: Gets hot (in an HP dv2000). The drive failed after less than two years of use. If you get this, make sure you keep it as cool as possible, as heat contributes to shortening the lifespan of the drive.

Other Thoughts: If it stayed cooler, possibly used less energy, it would be the perfect fit for any mobile computer.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Price
-Space
-Fast shipping
-Reliable service
-Perfect for ps3

Cons: -None if using for ps3 as I did, it's 5400rpm, if you want to use this for a laptop i advise you to get 7200rpm.

Other Thoughts: Used it for my ps3

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PS3 Drive

Pros: Works completely fine in my PS3. The drive came packaged nice like every other drive I ordered from here and has no problems.

Cons: Nothing.

Other Thoughts: I was getting a warning on my PS3 that I had less than 500 MB of space left on the 80 GB hard drive it came with and did some research and found out this was the best hard drive to get as a replacement and it works just fine.
