5 out of 5 eggs1TB

Pros: Very high rating, and has a lot of space for my needs!

Cons: Not a Solid State for performance, but the space is nice!

Other Thoughts: Lots of space for storage for movies, games, pictures, and little cut scenes.

2 out of 5 eggsThis is a 3.0 GB Hard Drive

Pros: None comes to mind, if your looking for a SATA 3 Hard Drives.

Cons: I am looking for a replacement drive and went to Seagate website to find more details about this one. I believe this is a simple typo error I know there is a lot involved in scaling up a webpage. That being said I did find this drive listed on Seagates spec's. http://www.seagate.com/support/internal-hard-drives/desktop-hard-drives/barracuda/ down at near the bottom of the list. Clearly stating ST310005N1A1AS-RK Kit 1TB SATA 3Gb/s 32MB.

Other Thoughts: Just to mention the difference in drive space is because the way Windows dose the figuring. The Drive manufacturers have no way to change how Windows calculates drive size. It is my understanding that Apple's systems will show the true size to be that of the manufactures. That is the way my instructors have explained it any ways.

3 out of 5 eggsreceived opened, disturbing

Pros: Previous Seagate drives have proven to be reliable for me. I like them also because Seagate, at least at this time, doesn't program the firmware to block RAID use, forcing you to buy a more expensive drive.

Cons: I just opened the shipping carton from NewEgg. The retail box was inside. The Seagate hologram seal on the retail box was cut open. I called NE to return it but was told they have to open the retail box to record the UPC. (it's on the outside of the box) Then she said they have to open it to record the drive serial number. BUT, the drive was still sealed in the antistatic bag. Maybe they can scan through the bag? Why would they do that when both the UPS and the drive serial number are available on the factory Seagate label on the outside of the retail box?

Other Thoughts: It's disturbing.
There is a bar code on an inside flap, but it doesn't seem to correspond with anything and it was printed when the retail box was made, it's not a label. The large cartons that Seagate ships (with a dozen?) its retail drives in have a label on the outside listing the serial numbers of all the retail boxes inside it.

4 out of 5 eggsOK drive in a retail kit.

Pros: This retail kit package gets you the Seagate Disk Wizard software. It works if you have at least one Seagate/Maxtor disk. No failures in the ones installed in the last year and a half.

Cons: Not a particularly fast drive, have purchased 5 of them in the last few years. The warrantee period listed on the retail boxes may vary from 5 to 2 to 1 year even with the same model numbers.

Other Thoughts: I keep an old old 4GB Seagate drive around, so I can us the Disk Wizard software between two Western Digital hard drive.

5 out of 5 eggsYour Standard Harddrive

Pros: Your standard "Terabyte" Harddrive. Comes with a SATA cable, documentation, and even a CD with drivers..not sure what those are, since it works completely fine without even putting that CD in the computer.

Cons: Of course, like 99% of all the harddrives for sale to your average consumer, it advertises being a Terabyte, which we all have come to expect as 1000GB (It even says 1000GB on the sticker on the harddrive) but it comes out to ~932GB on a fresh format.

Other Thoughts: Wish harddrive companies gave us the space advertised, but the harddrive works great otherwise.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: These were on sale for $70 and I couldn't be happier. I used to always buy WD up until last year and after I have purchased these, I will never go back! They give you extra SATA & power cables, detailed advance setup and recommendation guides, extra jumpers, mounting screws and decent utility software. WD drives should all be labeled as "BARE DRIVE."

Cons: As long as they don't fail, -0- complaints!

Other Thoughts: I enjoy getting all the extra swag with purchases, as I am sure most people do. Seagate hooks you up and this purchase left a great taste in my mouth.

5 out of 5 eggsFeeling lucky?

Pros: 1. It's not DOA
2. Fast, Quiet and Cool.
3. Included Sata Cable.

Cons: 1. 2 Year Warranty. Then again, even if it was for 5 years, you'd probably get a refurb unit which would be just as bad, unless the warranty specifically stated they would provide a new HD, and that replacement HD would keep the remaining warranty length of the original remaining time. I don't even think WD offers such a policy. Anyways, length to me equates to quality, so I don't put much faith into this drive -- I'm using it as a backup of a backup to stream movies.

2. Some kind of "goop" underneath the drive the spindle. I never seen that on past Seagates and WD's.

3. ESD Bag Sticker seal said "Made in China", as if it's a warning. I was hoping Malaysia, Thailand or Singapore as my previous WD drives were manufactured there.

Other Thoughts: If I get at least 6-8 years out of this drive, it was a great deal, but I'm not holding my breathe. If you're feeling luck and the price is right, go for it.
