Great Drive with Updated Firmware
- Pros: Largest capacity drive out without a pricetag that reflects it.
- Cons: If this drives comes with the stock SD15, SD17, or SD19 firmware, beware of write cache flush lockups/freezes. Seagate has released a new SD1A firmware that fixes this issue.
- Other Thoughts: I'd give 5 stars if not for the firmware issue, even though it's fixed now. It will be a bit of a hassle for everyone, especially those without much technical knowledge.
- Pros: Large drive...
- Cons: Nvidia MB chipsets and vista stop at 73% on format.

Its All Good!
- Pros: Tons of space...pennies per gig. 16.67 cents to be exact. I was weary at first to get it but I went ahead and purchased this back in nov09 anyway. It's fast, dependable, and quiet.
- Cons: Nada
- Other Thoughts: Replaced two HDD's with this one. :-D
Another Click-click-click----dead
- Pros: none. Hard to say anything positive about a near-DOA.
- Cons: Drives worked for 30 minutes and 18 hours respectively. Then received the dreaded click-of-death. After the click started it was less than an hour before the drive was periodically not recognized by bios.
I ordered two of these drives with my new server hardware (along with a 320GB OS drive...also seagate...the OS drive is fine so far).
_Both_ of these drives failed in less than a day.
- Other Thoughts: The hard part about deciding between HDs these days is finding one without a bunch of DOA / early return comments. Most of them do. After the first drive failed I went to seagate site...this board for this product is FULL of "click-click-dead" comments. I thought about calling seagate customer service, but that's not the way I want to start a relationship with a PAIR of new hard drives for my server.
I've used seagate HDs for years, and years. From U320 Cheetah's to 2-320GB PATAs in my old dual-XEON gaming machine, and 2-750 SATAs in my gaming machine.
However, I've RMA'd these....and just ordered 2 of the WD Caviar Green 1.5TB instead.
1 out of 4 bad
- Pros: good drive if it works.
- Cons: ordered 4 drives at same time, one drive was completely dead wouldnt even spin up. waiting for rma. 20 more dolllars out of my pocket.
