3 out of 5 eggsIt's like an unwanted hand massage

Pros: It works.

Cons: I put this bad boy in my 13in. macbook pro. found out that the 7200rpm makes the plates spin so fast that the entire laptop lightly vibrates. also, the sound of the plates spinning even when idle is decently loud.
along with the annoyances of having a faster, and therefor louder, hdd, i assumed there would be a comparable speed increase, because of the 7200rpm and a 16mg. cache over the 5400 and 8mg stock hdd. There isn't. If anything I'm noticing longer read times. nothing extreme but enough to be annoying.

Other Thoughts: I read quite a few reviews after purchase, none of them adequately mentioned the macbook vibration/noise or the lack of a speed increase that i'm experiencing.
There were quite a few that complained about a clicking-read noise that i haven't had a problem with though.
I'm going to return the hdd and purchase a 5400rpm again because i don't enjoy a noisy, vibrating laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive for the money

Pros: Speed and large storage capacity 7200rpm 500GB

Cons: Not an SSD

Other Thoughts: I put this HDD in my new Acer Aspire AS7551G-5821 it really made a difference in boot up time and system performance compared to the WD 5400rpm that it cam with. The WEI for the disks went from 5.7 to 5.9

5 out of 5 eggsIt worked

Pros: I received the drive and immedietly installed it into my ASUS 72GX. It worked and the laptop definetly feels more crip now that it's running 7.2K versus 5.4K.

Cons: None, so long as it works for many many years like all of my other Seagate HDDs.

5 out of 5 eggs13" White MacBook (2007)

Pros: This drive works great. Fast, and reliable in my 13" white macbook circa 2007.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: When using Mac OS the computer will not see the drive when you first boot up, you will have to format it. To do this, as you boot with the install disc, select utilities>disk utility from the menu bar and partition it, then the install disc will see it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Slick design. Somewhat fast download rate. I had about 60 gb of data in my hard drive and it took about 1:15 min to finish.
Looks sturdy, if you don't intend to swap hard drives constantly. Screw it once and forget it.
for the money I paid, I recommend it.

Cons: LIke everyone says the screw holes don't line up. That will be the first and pretty much the only prob you'll face. I had one more though; I didn't have my Y cable. Somehow the worker who put it together didn't think I needed one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive, especially for the price!

Pros: Fast, cheap, efficient, runs smooth

Cons: A little louder than stock, start-up is a bit slower

Other Thoughts: All together, this is a fantastic purchase! I installed this in my Macbook Pro (2009 build) along with 4 GB of Mushkin Ram, and it works great! I am quite impressed.

1 out of 5 eggsFail

Pros: Inexpensive, large capacity - attractive

Cons: Failed in less than 4 months of light load, low reliability - buys be aware!!

Other Thoughts: I upgraded my T61p using this drive. The T61p is my computer for the school so I use it everyday, usually surfing the I nternet and some Microsoft Office document work. Starting from 3 days ago, it started to make louder noise and Lenovo ThankVantage Tool tells me the hard drive failed SMART short self test.

1 out of 5 eggsGood drive while it actually worked

Pros: Had this in my Mac Mini for 13 months. Worked fine, until this morning.

Cons: Stopped working after a year of very limited use.

The Mac Mini is located in a cool room, is rarely used for any processor intensive purposes, and has been asleep most of the past year. There has been NO stress on the drive.

I pulled it out and plugged into an external enclosure, but it refuses to spin up. You can hear it trying to spin up in spurts, but it simply doesn't work.

Since it doesn't spin up, I can't even securely delete my sensitive files. I really don't want to send it as-is to Seagate for warranty replacement, so I'll probably just eat the cost and buy a new drive... or just go back to the stock drive that came with the computer.

Other Thoughts: I'm very disappointed with this, since my previous experience with 3.5" Seagate drives has been very good. I have five of them in a RAID 5 setup that's been working fine since 2004.

This is the first 2.5" Seagate I've used. I think I'll stick with Hitachi for laptop drives.
