Pros: Seagate is one of the most reliable drives I have ever used. This one is no exception. I also like WD, the determining factor this time was price. Let's face it- most drives are using the same technology, manufactured under the same standards. Once in a while a bad batch makes it past QC. Overall though, you cannot go wrong with Seagate.

Cons: none what-so-ever

Other Thoughts: I've only had one Seagate fail after a year of use. Being a retired IT Manager, CIO and Network Engineer I've gone through my fair share of hardware. I like to hold out my reviews for a year after purchase. I've had no problems at all with this series of drive.

Cons: did not know it was for laptops, got scared when my friends that was putting it for me said, is for laptops. but is still works. just very small in size.

Pros: Had this hard drive for well over a year now and it's still going. Bought it for $54.99 at the time, strange the price went up. Speedy drive not very large at 250GB but was more than enough for a Dell XPSm1530. My Laptop died and this hard drive is still alive and kicking, took it out and used it on another laptop.

Pros: Was able to pull files off, barely.

Cons: Came stock in a netbook and failed in a year. Gave boot errors and recovery features would not load, nor would backups.

Other Thoughts: I have had good luck with other seagate drives.

Pros: Fast, reliable, dead silent, and best of all, didn't noticeably effect my battery life upgrading from a 5400 rpm drive.

Other Thoughts: Purchased this as an upgrade for my macbook pro 3,1. It is screaming fast... 16MB cache sure is nice... All around great drive - But of course! It's a Seagate!

Pros: Good, inexpensive replacement drive. Plugged it in a work HP laptop and booted laptop and drive was recognized no problem. Cheaper than ordering the HP replacement which is the exact same hard drive.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: What is wrong with people? If you want something that makes you breakfast, buy a toaster not a hard drive.

Pros: Newegg return policy will hopefully allow me to get a working drive.

Cons: Hooked up as an external USB drive and installed as new device hardware but no drive letter was assigned.

Other Thoughts: Either I wasn't provided the procedures to format the drive or the drive is bad.

Pros: It worked for 1 year and it is still under warranty

Cons: It died after 1 year. Kept giving startup errors. Tried every recovery method known, everything points to a faulty hard drive (corrupt MBR that is unrecoverable).

Other Thoughts: Bought this for a customer knowing that Seagate made good hard drives. Guess we'll find out how well they stand behind their products.

According to Argus Monitor

S.M.A.R.T data shows uptime to be 68 days 17 hours, which sounds a little low to me but then again for a laptop that's quite a fair amount of use... Folks, the above specs aren't bad for a hard drive that's essentially been running non-stop for 2+ months... And that's not including all the spin downs and spin ups that it's seen (which yes, does cause wear on a hard disk). In case you don't know what the time above translates to I'll tell you, this drive has been in use for about one and a half to two years. Still peaking at almost 100MB/s Read isn't bad at all. :P

Cons: Get's up to about 55C after prolonged and intensive use, I can't really complain though, 7200RPM drives get hotter by nature than 5400RPM drives do. If it got up to 60C then I might have a problem...

Other Thoughts: It's fast, it's high quality and has lasted for quite a while. For 50 bones you can't find anything better, and unless you were planning on archiving the entirety of your local video store's plethora of DVD's, it should prove adequate for your needs in terms of space. Any more questions? Good, now go ahead and buy it.
