5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: I've been using this for about 9 months now on a long, daily basis. It's been working great.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Wish I would have bought a couple of these at the time. I got this on a clearance price. It's been discontinued. Well, Newegg will have another good deal down the road, so no tears here.

1 out of 5 eggsRefurb Segate Hard drives

Pros: I have bought over sixty Seagate hard drives and they are always the best of the best. Great speed and solid performance.

Cons: For the first time I saw refurbished Seagate drives for sale and bought three for future use on customers XP computers. ALL THREE ARE BAD!. My fault I didn't check them before thirty day warranty but I bought for future use, be warned these are all bad. THREE for THREE!

Other Thoughts: I love and always buy Seagate, was shocked these refurbished drives were all bad and could not use, $150.00 mistake I won't make again. I will buy Seagate new drives though.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: None

Cons: DOA. Clink clank, ching ching ching. Undetectable. Thanks guys... Ah, guess I can't complain too much, it's my first DOA from newegg. Wonder if you guys test em before you release em.

Other Thoughts: Kinda ticked off about this. I don't think they "refurbished" mine as much as they just cleaned it up. Worst decision I've made buying online, and I'll never buy refurbished from newegg again.

1 out of 5 eggsDead drive

Pros: drive is quiet when it works.

Cons: I bought 2 drives- drive 1 dead on arrival- drive powered up but the heads were bouncing inside of drive. drive 2 took 2 times of formatting before it would write to the disk- took over 4 hours to format and then had a lot of bad sectors about 1/8 of the drive. it seams to be working for now the other was sent back (rma)

Other Thoughts: I have had 10 of the drives over the years and all seemed to be good but these refurb drives have issues. Newegg did take back and drive and now waiting for replacement.

1 out of 5 eggsNot good at all

Pros: none

Cons: Ordered two of these drives. They sat on my shelf for more than the 30day period as I didn't really need them right away. Just a good buy and knew I would eventually need them. Opened the box, both DOA dead. Contacted newegg, they waived the 30 day period (one egg) and sent me two more. DOA both dead. Had to contact Seagate. What a pain in the backside! Still have not gotten them returned after 3 months! Newegg great! Seagate horrible! Drives horrible!

Other Thoughts: I usually have good luck with refurb items. Isn't the term "refurbished" mean they have fixed any issue and tested them ready for retail sale? Come on Seagate! get into the game~!

1 out of 5 eggsGreat and then very very bad

Pros: When it worked it worked great

Cons: Purchased two, both literally destroyed them selves in less than a year. the heads dig into the platter and throw metal shards to the rest of the drive........

Other Thoughts: I guess what can you expect for the price but I would stay away from these...

5 out of 5 eggsGood IDE HDD

Pros: -Cheap
-Silent
-Fast

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: Not DOA!
Not the coolest HDD I try but in the normal range
Test it with sea tools and everything was perfect.
Done a endurance test for 12 hours and everything went fine!
Use it on my softmod xbox. Run fast!

3 out of 5 eggsNot lightly used previously

Pros: Price per megabyte is very low. Worth it since I have a PATA to SATA to eSATA converter. This is a perfect drive to back up files or create a system image. I am using it for both. I backed up my 250 GB SSD with Windows 7 backup creator on this drive and still have space to save files and programs that I do not access often and which do not need a fast HDD.

Cons: Followed what another reviewer did and ran HD Sentinel on this drive. The test said the drive was in perfect working condition, but that it only had 100 days of life left. It also shows that it had been used for 2,410 days prior to me ordering it. Used like a server drive prior to being refurbished and re sold.

Other Thoughts: Since I am using this drive to store my Windows 7 backup image, it will not be used much. As long as it works after sitting on my shelf for a while until Windows does its yearly crash, it will be worth the $24 I paid for it. A similar 500 GB SATA drive costs twice times as much. This drive is also cheaper than using a bunch of DVDs to create a backup, not to mention much more convenient having it all on a single drive.

4 out of 5 eggsHard Drives for Xbox

Pros: Good Price. Free Shipping.

Cons: 1 drive was bad.

Other Thoughts: Well I bought 6 drives spread out on a few seperate orders. So far only 1 was bad. But I have used these for modded xbox's and they work great. Like someone said before...plug the drive in right away so you can check them. But programs or software that tell you how much life is left on a hard drive is highly un reliable. There is no way to tell if a drive is going to fail. It just does. But I do think checking them out right away is the best thing to do. I am happy with them and they run just fine. Especially for an old IDE drive.
