3 out of 5 eggsNot lightly used previously

Pros: Price per megabyte is very low. Worth it since I have a PATA to SATA to eSATA converter. This is a perfect drive to back up files or create a system image. I am using it for both. I backed up my 250 GB SSD with Windows 7 backup creator on this drive and still have space to save files and programs that I do not access often and which do not need a fast HDD.

Cons: Followed what another reviewer did and ran HD Sentinel on this drive. The test said the drive was in perfect working condition, but that it only had 100 days of life left. It also shows that it had been used for 2,410 days prior to me ordering it. Used like a server drive prior to being refurbished and re sold.

Other Thoughts: Since I am using this drive to store my Windows 7 backup image, it will not be used much. As long as it works after sitting on my shelf for a while until Windows does its yearly crash, it will be worth the $24 I paid for it. A similar 500 GB SATA drive costs twice times as much. This drive is also cheaper than using a bunch of DVDs to create a backup, not to mention much more convenient having it all on a single drive.

4 out of 5 eggsHard Drives for Xbox

Pros: Good Price. Free Shipping.

Cons: 1 drive was bad.

Other Thoughts: Well I bought 6 drives spread out on a few seperate orders. So far only 1 was bad. But I have used these for modded xbox's and they work great. Like someone said before...plug the drive in right away so you can check them. But programs or software that tell you how much life is left on a hard drive is highly un reliable. There is no way to tell if a drive is going to fail. It just does. But I do think checking them out right away is the best thing to do. I am happy with them and they run just fine. Especially for an old IDE drive.

2 out of 5 eggsNo bad sectors, 6 months of life left !

Pros: Fast shipping
decent packaging (bubble wrap did not cover 2 slim sides of the drive)
No bad sectors

Cons: -hesitating packaging (bubble wrap did not cover 2 slim sides of the drive)
- 150 days of life left for the drive : = 6 months life expectancy (more than 5 years power on time) HD Sentinel Pro says

Other Thoughts: very short life expectancy software determined: not worth it, do not buy.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT TRUST THESE DRIVES

Pros: The only pro is that they're cheap

Cons: I bought two, and they BOTH went bad in short order under light home use; Manuf. replaced w/ refurbs, which lasted less than a month; further replacements went belly-up almost immediately. Can only conclude it's a bad design.

WASTE OF TIME, MONEY, AND DATA.

Other Thoughts: in 30+ years, The Seagate 400gb HD is THE WORST hardware experience.

Spare yourself.

5 out of 5 eggsRefurbished for Xbox

Pros: Free shipping and in static free bag. Inspection seal on bag that lets you know it has been refurbished.

Cons: None so far. It's been 3 months and I have had no issue with the hard drive. I ordered a second one this previous weekend. When it arrives I will do another review.

Other Thoughts: I use this for my Original Xbox that is Modded. It works well and have had no issues with it this far. Works like a charm and I am very happy with it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked Perfectly For Me

Pros: Worked on arrival
Sounds pretty quiet
Worked perfectly on an original Xbox

Cons: Price randomly went down $1 a few days after I purchased it; more of a con on Newegg than the product though
Refurbished, but that was disclosed and significantly cheaper than the same model new elsewhere

Other Thoughts: For an IDE drive, the price per GB is comparable to current SATA drives
(Purchased for $26 on 3/8/13; $26 / 400 GB = $0.065 / GB)

Others have said theirs arrived DOA or died after 2 months, so my advice is to install the drive right away. That way *if* it dies within 2 months you'll still be within the 90 day warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA out of the box

Pros: None. DOA is DOA.

Cons: It is a refurb.

Other Thoughts: While I understand it is a refurb, DOA out of the box is pretty disappointing. 2 thumbs down.

2 out of 5 eggsbah

Pros: Wah cheap, and really the only choice for a larger capacity PATA HD.

Cons: it's recognized as a 128G drive. I wanted it to replace a 120G, it's useless to me, the old drive went back in and gonna RMA. I hope I'm not stuck with it.
