1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: None

Cons: If your building a computer for the first time, this item is something that I garuntee you will have to replace. Might as well buy a good HDD in the first place. This disk is very loud and painfully slow. IF you install windows on this, it will take 10 minutes to boot up your computer. Sure its cheap, but your going to end up throwing it away.

1 out of 5 eggsDisk Error

Pros: Easy install, didn't have any trouble loading OS and other programs upon receipt.

Cons: Disk failed after 5 months of very light use. Refurb, so the 90 day RMA makes sense, but is still very dissapointing. Basically flushed money down the toliet.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: No problem like others. Use it as a slave for music and pictures. Computer has been running 2 months straight with restart once a week. No problem.

Download all music to this drive A+++, no problem.

Probably got lucky but anything 3.5 stars and above to me is a great gamble. Haven't gotten anything gave out on me. If you are unsure then buy brand new.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Asus Crosshair V
AMD 8350
Older model SSD (not sure works great so don't care)
Asus 660 TI 2GB
Corsair Dual Fan Water Cooler H100
G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2x4GB)
Acer 27" Monitor

Run all the latest game without any trouble (ie. Star Craft 2 Heart of Swarm, Diablo, Battlefield ect...)
Generic 730 Power Supply (works great and haven't seen any performance issue so not sure why anyone running on 1 graphic card would need any more even with over clock everything!!!)

1 out of 5 eggsJust Plain Bad.

Pros: Uh. It. Uh...

Cons: Loud, unstable, prone to freezing up on sudden vibrations it just didn't like, barely lasted from Jan 1st to March 1st of the same year. Not even worth 30 bucks for a backup or alternate drive.

Other Thoughts: Bought this in the black Friday sale. I'm a frequent buyer of refurbs because usually, you get a good deal out of them. And you can find out the worth of a company by how well their refurbs work. Examples? I've had a WD refurb HD that is 7 years old that is just starting to slow down and get finicky. 6 of those years it was a main HD in an old workroom PC that almost never got turned off. Wacom tablet is another company great for their product solidness and refurb quality check... buy a refurbed intuos, save a ton of money, and have a tablet that still lasts you years and years.

Anyways, I digress. I took a gamble on Seagate after hearing bad things about them from geeky friends, figuring this could be a temp drive for a stout build I was working on. I think I spent $60 for it. It was set carefully aside and put in its tower on Jan 1st 2013... and today, March 1st 2013, its dead. I knew it was inevitable, thankfully, so I backed up most of my important stuff before it went down. How did I know it was inevitable? Because out of the box it was rattling and scraping, and by the middle of February it sounded like someone was performing concrete construction inside of my PC tower.

So yeah, save that $30 or whatever it goes to towards a different HDD... this wasn't even capable of being a temporary main drive.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None

Cons: Should have RMAd it. Didn't work upon delivery. Out of curiosity(it was only 40 bucks) I took it apart to because I heard a scratching noise. The needle inside was broken and scratched the heck out of a disk so it could no longer be read.

Other Thoughts: First Seagate of mine to ever fail. Not to upset as it was a refurb, but also still the first Newegg refub to fail on me.

1 out of 5 eggsCaveat

Pros: save a few bucks - at first

Cons: I bought a Seagate refurb last summer. It had more than 10000 hours on it when I got it. Six months later, the bad sector count started to zoom, and the disc was too unstable to be imaged. Good deal? What do you think?
