Pros: I've always been a fan of Seagate until they bought Maxtor. I should have known that would influence their quality.
Cons: I bought three of these and had one fail less than six months in use. Drive(s) started making a clicking sound before failure. Just did the (paid 19.99 for immediate) exchange with Seagate and received the refurbished replacement and now another of these drives is failing to show up in the BIOS every day upon startup. I expect the other one to fail as well as this is typical of bad drives. I had this sort of issue with Maxtor (which Seagate bought) on over 90 drives at my workplace.
Other Thoughts: I"m going to buy replacements for these drives as soon as I can afford the extra expense as these are undependable and not worth the trouble or risk of lost data. Pure junk! Don't purchase.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Very fast, huge storage, easy to setup.
Cons: 1st one started the "click click click" thing a week after getting it, seatools tests all came out fine (even long dst) but if I was reading something off the drive when it was clicking, it would drag the system down (e8400 c2d, 4gb ram, velociraptor primary drive, eg shouldent slow down), I called up seagate and they replaced it promptly, 2nd one now running well.
Other Thoughts: My last drive (750gb seagate) did the same thing, and I replaced it over a year and a half ago, the replacement is strong, they must be having issues that they figure out after shipping, but never admit to fully. Thinkin western digital may be my next purchase after years of seagates with no issues, 2 with click of death in a row (diff models at that!) seems kind of rediculous. BETTER QC PLEASE!!!

Good while it lasted

Pros: Well, it worked for a while I guess.... can you even call that a Pro?
Cons: My system started locking up intermitantly a week or so ago. Thought it was my graphics card flaking out on me... then one morning when I powered up the system this drive had disppeared from the BIOS. I won't go into too much detail but even after deleting and rebuilding the partitions with a fresh install the BIOS will lose this drive after the system is powered off for more than a few minutes. Windows install disc can't even find an image to repair after that.
I've had it less than I year, something like 6 or 8 months but don't hold me to that... the point is, judging from the reviews here, apparently this batch got passed the QA guys when it shouldn't have.
Other Thoughts: I still have a 500gb Maxtor from pre-Seagate buyout days that's running fine. I would not recommend anyone buy this drive until someone from Seagate posts here indicating that they have become aware of this issue and dealt with it.
