1 out of 5 eggsPoor reliability

Pros: pretty standard "pros", when it worked

Cons: Noisy on spin-up.
Failed after about 18 months.

Other Thoughts: This is the second Seagate HDD that I've had in the last three years that has failed me with less than two years service. Hmm, in fact, all of my Seagate HDD's have failed me. After some period of time they start "clicking" on startup, then after a while, the clicking becomes permanent. My most current unit will now only work when lying flat, started "cold". After a couple of hours, even that position will start "clicking". I have totally lost faith in Seagate and will start buying only Western Digital drives until Seagate cleans up their act.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: 1Tb, quiet.

Cons: One was pretty much DOA - scandisk errors. Two others died about two years later within months of each other.

Other Thoughts: Bought three. I returned one right off the bat as it was bad. Two others died about two years later within months of each other. Amazing timing - just after warranty. Wish there were a better hard disk manufacturer. Hopefully my 3TB Seagate NAS drives are of better build quality!

1 out of 5 eggsGOOD FOR A YEAR or SO then FAILURE

Pros: Decent value for the money. Good warranty system.

Cons: I ordered 4 of these to create to Mirrored Servers RAID 0 for a video editing machine. I've had to replace two of them over the past 3 years, which was ok, at least one was under warranty and I had redundancy with the RAID 0, however recently a 3rd one went out, complete failure and the RAID did not hold up causing us to lose our entire stock footage library and some client footage.

Other Thoughts: I've been a big fan of seagate over the years when building our editing machines, including external storage as well, but this is the last straw. We have to have something more reliable.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after 3 years

Pros: worked ok while it lasted

Cons: Died at just 3 years. Guess I should have known by the 2 year warranty. Was part of a raid1 mirror, so no data lost. Still sad they die so fast.
