1 out of 5 eggsBAD BUY

Pros: thought i was getting good deal on extra storage. made purchase anticipating later use of the drive.

Cons: Drive was not installed till the last week of August, 2010. Drive failed 09/06/2010 just days after installation and would not write. Copied my music files overfrom C: and was reorganizing them when the system refused to copy files. rebooted and problem remained. 30-Day return policy doesn't help.

Other Thoughts: dont know if the second drive is OK yet. lots of Segate drive failures in the reviews here.

5 out of 5 eggsWhoa....At this price I had to get one.

Pros: I strayed away from seagate over the last couple of years due to a lot of quality control issues they were having, but 48 bones for 750 gig? I came back to try them again real quick.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I like it! I once again wish I would have bought two of something that was on sale over 40% off. This was a steal for me. If it goes belly up in a year or two.....hey, I hope to have moven on by then. Working well for me.

1 out of 5 eggsBEWARE!! Don't buy HDD here!

Pros: The hard drives work fine were easy to install and have not yet given trouble.

But see the Con.

Cons: I have read many HDD reviews about bad drives. Because of that I bought a 2 bay enclosure to set up as
RAID 1 assuming one of the drives would die soon and will get a USB drive to back up the whole thing.

After getting the package I see why so many are DOA. The shipping box was partly crushed. The drives were in 2 boxes wrapped in a single layer of bubble wrap. The big box was full of paper as a cushion. But the two drives were on top of the internal paper, cushioned only by the external box which had been crushed.

Other Thoughts: I hate to rate the Seagate badly. The rating is really for NEWEGG's wrapping procedures.

If I ran Seagate I would not sell to Newegg until they learn to wrap because they only give seagate a bad reputatuion.

Bottom line I will never buy from NEWEGG again because of the lack of care with the products.

1 out of 5 eggs1 Down 1 Left

Pros: Decent size. Quick while lasted.

Cons: Past few weeks been having delays when trying to view the one I put in as a secondary. Today the one I put in as a primary started to error out and windows is pitching a fit over it.

Other Thoughts: I was a big fan of Seagate, my first HDD ever was a Seagate and it ran for years. Decided to go Seagate again and soon I'll have two heavy paperweights. Thats it Seagate you lost your chance. If only one failed I could maybe of forgave you, but hard to backup your data when both drives need to be replaced. Hopefully the second one will last long enough to get replacment drives.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for me!!

Pros: I bought 2 of these drives about 7 months ago for my HTPC, one for storage of movies & TV shows, the other for my DVR for my HD Homerun. Both have worked great, absolutely not problems.

Cons: No here

Other Thoughts: People that have complained that it is not actually a 750 GB drive need to realize that ALL hard drive manufactures sell drives based on Bytes not Megabytes, Gigabytes or Terabytes. Also that there are 1024 Bytes to the Kilobyte, 1024 Kilobytes to the Megabyte, 1024 Megabytes to the Gigabyte and so on, it is not a conversion of a 1000. This being said, 750,000,000,000 Bytes converts to approximately 698 Gigabytes. Manufactures will cut every corner to make it seem like you are getting more and give you less. This is not something new; they have always done it this way.

4 out of 5 eggsseagate rules

Pros: no problems so far knock on wood, but,i dont expect any..i got another seagate hdd 4 years ago and not one problem..i will be installing all my games on it

Cons: i gave it 4 eggs cause their are faster drives out there(and one day im gonna buy one)and this one was bought for a special reason...my opinion i would use it for any games out in the market today but not for video editing or even home recording, but,i could be done

Other Thoughts: i would definitly buy another one if i had to
