Pros: High capactity
Small form factor

Aesthetically pleasing

Cons: Filled with too much awesome, it's sometimes overwhelming

3 out of 5 eggsdrive problems

Pros: The drive is small, looks good, high capacity and is USB powered

Cons: had the drive about 8 months suddenly it has started to fail at random, it will beep about five times then windows cant read it. Then it will come go until you unplug it and then plug it back in then work fine until you call it a bad name or look at it wrong

Other Thoughts: im going back to WD, I've had two seagate drives die on me in the last year

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: No wall plug. Powers through USB. Nice looking. Working great so far.

Cons: Bought this specifically to use with my Seagate FreeAgent Theater Media Player Model STCEA101-RK. It doesn't fit since it's taller than the other FreeAgent drives. Have to plug it in through the USB. Kind of ridiculous the a Seagate Freeagent drive, does not fit in the Seagate media player. If I wanted to buy a drive to plug in through a USB cord I would have just purchased a different one. I looked it up to see if it fit and found reviews on other sites saying it does. Wishing I just called and asked them now, but it seemed so obvious to me the specific drive designed to fit the media player would fit. Additionally the drive has an indent in the back which I figured was to allow it to fit. Did Seagate specifically design it that way to trick people into thinking it would fit in the player? Perhaps it fits in some other player that I'm unaware of. Pretty disappointed by this. I'm sure I'm not the first person to buy this assuming it would fit.

2 out of 5 eggs1 failed, 1 ok

Pros: I bought 2 of these. 1 just failed after 4 months use, so I sent it back for a replacement. I really like the form factor. Quiet, small, short single USB cable.

Cons: I've had 3 Seagate drives fail on me lately. Luckily I haven't lost any irreplaceable data yet. I was feeling this was a really great drive until it failed.

1 out of 5 eggsAVOID!!!

Pros: None. Can't make it work.

Cons: The drive would not install on either my Windows 7 x64 or my Windows XP computer. The computer can't identify it and it doesn't come with any software and the website doesn't have any drivers. There is a good risk you will spend a lot of time trying to make it work and not get anything done.

1 out of 5 eggsSEAGATE 1TB FREEAGENT

Pros: Small and good backup............ Under the assumption it actually works longer than the drive your backing up

Cons: Made noise, got real hot, FAILED WITHIN 4 USES, TOOK THE DRIVE OUT AND TRIED IT IN A DIFFERENT CONTROLLER.

HARDDRIVE FAILURE WITHIN 7 HOURS OF STARTUP

Other Thoughts: DONT DO IT

5 out of 5 eggsSuper, Awesome, Master, King, Killer

Pros: I bought this hard drive about 3 months ago and so far it has not failed me. I've drop this baby a couple of times and still it works. Its almost full so I'm already thinking of buying another one.

VERY DURABLE (well in my book dropping it 4ft high is durable)

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsDoes Not Like Linux

Pros: Well, its a 1 TB portable drive. Looks nice.

Cons: This drive does not work well with Linux. Twice in a little over a month it has become unreadable to Karmic, Lucid and Fedora 12 systems, requiring running chkdsk f on a Windows box to repair its NTFS file system. The most recent occasion it went "unreadable" while doing a file transfer.

It also has a hidden partition filled with Windows software, quite useless to Linux users. After the first file system corruption event I reformatted it (still with NTFS) to reclaim the hidden space, hoping the partitioning issue was the root cause. No luck.

Seagate external drives have a history of spinning down under Linux and then becoming unaccessible. Since the last corruption problem was during a file transfer, this is probably not the cause.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend any Linux user avoid Seagate external drives.
