Other Thoughts: Easy fix - simply carve down the plastic around the USB plug so that it can fit ALL THE WAY into the stupidly-recessed USB port on the drive, affording full contact, and allowing proper drive operation.

Cons: I am a tech of 15 years that orders a lot of products for my customers, I ordered 2 of these drives and both of the cables are crimped in the box, so they don’t work, if you bend the cable were its crimped then it will work sometimes, I found 2 new cables from other Seagate hard drive we have here and then they work fine, so called Seagate for warranty as it said on Newegg’s site, Seagate does not warranty the cables just the drive, even when its only 1 day old. So much for warranty. nice. Don’t buy Seagate!

Cons: drive wouldnt work on 2 different laptops. connected it, lit up, drive spinning neither computer both with xp could find it. sent back

Cons: Broken right out of the box. Couldn't get any of the 3 PCs to recognize it. The LED on the enclosure only lit up sometimes because the connection was so loose.

Other Thoughts: I got it on sale at a brick and mortar store. I see why it was so cheap now. Skip this one.

Pros: Very large drive, simple to connect and operate (I formatted it to get rid of Seagate's software - I want as little as possible between me and control of my drives).

Cons: Larger than necessary enclosure, short USB cable, not very fast (but that's also USB 2.0).

Other Thoughts: There's a slight reliability problem with this - needs a good whack (while off!) before it works sometimes. Once it works it's reliable. Mechanical problems usually result from bad solder joints or cheap connectors. I bought this to take on a trip and didn't have time to simply return it for another one. I'm sure it's enclosure-related. I'll replace the enclosure when I get around to it...more of a nuisance than anything else for me, but your tolerance for this sort of nonsense may not be so high.

Pros: Big hard drive size in relatively small portable casing.
Fast and nice design.

Other Thoughts: I bought this hard drive when Newegg offered combo package (750Gb expansion + free docking).
When the item arrived, I see that the free docking is for seagate free agent and it is impossible to use with seagate expansion. Why? the free agent has USB at the bottom while the expansion has USB in its side.
I am really confused at why Newegg offers this combo while they don't actually fit each other.
I am still keeping it though since the price is okay.

Cons: Not as small as My Passport

Other Thoughts: The dimensions given in the specs for this drive are misleading. This drive is not nearly as small as a typical portable hard drive like the WD My Passport.

Pros: Amazing shipping speed - ordered yesterday afternoon, received nextday morning, Fantastic !
Yet to use the product, as actual quality of HDD lies in how long they last. I am going to use it in raid array for my Apple Laptop to store all my family photos, videos.

Cons: None so far.
