5 out of 5 eggsMy drives are going strong....

Pros: I have had no issues with my drive. Been going strong for more then a year. People are experiencing a click noise issue with recommendations on the Dell website to update the firmware. I didn't do so because I don't have those issues. I also just bought another drive just like it for my other laptop. I'm sure it will be fine as well. I think a lot of the failures had to do with the click of death coming out of no where. But like I said I have had no issues and the drive is excellent and I bought another that showed up and works just fine as well!

Cons: None really. I think that they firmware issues are probably fixed and that I should be fine. If you getting the clicking noise issue then update the firmware for it and that will fix the controller on the drive and hopefully straiten out the head.

Other Thoughts: Best of luck to you guys!

1 out of 5 eggsEpic Fail

Pros: Quick and lots of storage.

Cons: I bought a new dell laptop less than a year ago and it came with this hard drive. After less than 3 months it died. Dell replaced with a new hard drive of the same ST9500420ASG model number. The replacement has lasted 9 months and is now also dead.

Other Thoughts: do not buy...

2 out of 5 eggsClicking after a few months

Pros: Good speeds, quiet, cheap

Cons: Clicking developed after a few months of use, not reliable

Other Thoughts: I had this hard drive installed on my HP laptop for a couple months and it recently started making a random clicking noise. Hard drive did not fail, but clicking got more frequent. Sounded like the drive could crash at any moment. I replaced it as a precaution after reading some of these other reviews. Beware this drive may not be very reliable.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems

Pros: Very quiet operation, quick spinup, and not a single problem with this drive.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've installed two of these in different laptops and couldn't be happier. With the low price and The Egg's legendary quick shipping, I am very satisfied.

5 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: Fast Boot
Fast Operation of Netbook.
Quiet does not vibrate laptop.

Cons: Bad Reviews make me nervous. I can't say how it will hold up longterm.

Other Thoughts: I can't count off because of other reviews. My use so far has been very good. I just cloned my original drive and popped it in. Worked first time and has continued to perform very well for me. It does NOT approach SSD speeds. But I needed a big drive and wanted it fast. The SSD's are outragous in the 256GB size. This was a good compromise.

1 out of 5 eggsIt's a DOG, don't buy

Pros: Sorta seems fast when it works

Cons: It caused lots of problems. In my laptop, it constantly spins down for no reason, causing lag waiting for it to spin back up, even in the middle of typing a sentence. Seagate support was terrible, tried to give me some nonsense about my motherboard not being compatible. So I put the thing in a USB enclosure. Even worse results, on a different system is causes the system to hang. This thing is terrible. Get an SSD or a normal hard drive from someone else.

1 out of 5 eggsFailure

Pros: Good storage space
Good speed

Cons: Drive lasted 4 months before showing signs of failure. For the warranty replacement, I had to pay $20 shipping for a refurb drive. The refurb drive showed signs of failure within 2 weeks.

1 out of 5 eggsDont BuY!!

Pros: Worked GREAT for 2 months!

Cons: Unfortunately, after noticing I hadn't backed up any important data in the past couple months, my brand new SeaGate froze and became unacceptable. My only advice is to buy a different brand till SeaGate straightens out these kinks.
