1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: None

Cons: The thing died within 11 months. Contacted Seagate. They didn't do anything.

Other Thoughts: Horrifying build quality, and a 20% positive customer service. Wouldn't but it again

5 out of 5 eggsDecent Drives

Pros: Affordable
Nice Performance for a spinner
only 2 platters

Cons: It's a HDD. They all fail sooner or later

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these drives in 2008 for a RAID 0 Array. Only one of them has just now failed after 7 years. That's right, they lasted 7 years, and one of them is still counting.

HDD's are a commodities. They are like buying buying Gas or motor oil. They are made the same by pretty much everyone. You buy for the performance.

The faster the drive goes, the more likely it is to fail
the more platters a drive is, the more likely it is to fail.

with that said, i just bought another one of these to replace the failed one. I wanted the same model number and fortunately it was cheap

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works out of the box, nice price for being refurbished

Cons: Errors after 3 years of use, can't even reformat it, drive just refuses any type of format (be through windows or a low-level format). Sadly I still have drives that are over 15 years old and they work, newer drives just seem to die easily.

Other Thoughts: Should have gone with a better drive

2 out of 5 eggsSeagate

Pros: Out of the Box - worked flawlessly

Cons: Within a year it crapped out and I'd get the INSERT SYSTEM DISK to boot. Sent it back and was issued a RE-Certified drive- The Re-Certified drive worked for 10 days.

Other Thoughts: This is a pain in the ... It takes Hours and Hours to re-install and do the UPDATES. I like the concept of remanufactured drives ( just wish I knew who did the best job of it )

1 out of 5 eggsSMART failure in less then a half year

Pros: While it worked, it was good, but less then 6 months operating time is bad.

Cons: I bought this early August for a computer I built from scratch, and the hard drive has an excessive amounts of reallocated sectors, which means that a larger portion then normal of the hard drive has gone unreadable/unfixable. I'm very disappointed, Seagate is usually a good brand for me, I used one of their hard drives for over 5 years, an old 60GB drive from 2000.

Other Thoughts: One of the few times I wish I'd bothered with an extended warranty. Now I have to replace it, and I'm going with a different brand!
