what is a bare drive?

Just an internal drive with no housing, cabling, or any other accessories.  It would be for a desktop or server.  Cabling, for communication and power supply, would have to be supplied by you.  It's not designed to be used outside of a case because it has no enclosure like an external hard drive would have.

yes sir. I have bought the seagate 1TB HDD at newegg and it is quiet and good performing drive. Recommended and newegg is good place to get such drive.

The SATA drive should work fine with your system. This is a reliable choice, I've purchased many over the years for external storage and thankfully haven't had a problem. It should work equally well as a primary operating system drive. Also, you might consider the even more robust and slightly more expensive Western Digital Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA---it's a fantastic drive and what I use for my primary operating system drive. I can't honestly answer this question. I have  4 of them in a old NV+ NAS in RAID 5 for backups only. So far, they have been reliable considering their age.

There are no jumpers to be concerned with. Like all SATA drives, they are identified by the connection to the controller.

My Mainboard is Gigabyte GA-EP43C-DS3, Could i use this HDD for it?

You should verify drive compatibility with Gigabyte support, however it seems this SATA drive should interface fine with your Gigabyte mother board. Be sure to check the newer, cheaper version of this drive on Newegg.

Can I have the PCB model for the drive? I am trying to find an exact replacement for my first hard drive, which has the PCB model number of 100536501 REV B (found on the back of the hard drive on the circuit board).

The eight drives I bought in 2013 all had the PCB number 100574451 Rev B installed. Used in a RAID 5 configuration, FWIW I've had zero problems with the drives to date. I'm very pleased with the performance.

If you really want that PCB, you may have luck finding a used replacement online, just Google "100536501 REV B PCB Seagate drive".

If you are replacing your primary drive, you might also consider the WD1001FALS Caviar Black. Reliable, fast, and fantastic overall. Not your PCB of course, but a great drive.

My iMac has a Seagate ST31000528as hard drive that needs to be replaced. Is the Seagate ST31000524as compatible?

We are using this drive in a Netgear ReadyNAS server box. The Netgear compatibility website lists both drives as compatible replacements, so I believe that they should work in your context. If you get an answer from someone using one in an iMac I would defer to that answer.

MBR or GPT is up to you. From the Factory, there is no Partitioning or Formatting done. For anything below 2.4TB, MBR is fine. And will be supported by legacy hardware.

GPT is the only way to go, on new hardware, when you have 3TB and beyond.

If I want to record a music CD using this hard drive, What speed CD-R would I need? Or does it not matter?

Get the fastest CD-R drive you can, but any CD-R(eader) will work fine. I am only saying the fastest because it will save you time sitting there waiting for it to finish ripping.
