1 out of 5 eggsLasted 13 Months - Avoid This Product!

Pros: Was cheap at the time

Cons: Lasted 13 months. What a piece of junk.

As soon as it got full of data, the drive disappeared from Windows. 1TB of data lost forever. How awesome is that?

Other Thoughts: At the time of purchase, I'm almost certain the warranty was only for 1 yr. Now it's for 2 yrs. Okay... w/e.

When a hard drive dies, it's simply time to buy an new one. Because the Refurbished unit they send back will be in the same or worse condition as the original.

They basically get away with robbing you. Great way to treat people huh.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor

Pros: None, really. SATA disks are commodity items,

Cons: Unreliable. I used to swear by Seagate drives; now I swear at them. I own four 1-TB drives. Two have been RMAd (and the replacements have their own problems). One of the others has started to grow bad blocks.

Other Thoughts: Avoid.

1 out of 5 eggsehhh

Pros: cheap

Cons: I had to RMA it; just don't buy Seagate in general

Other Thoughts: If you need a lot of room, but don't care too much about data integrity over time, seagate is fine; personally I would rather look into HGST, newegg has a good selection of them.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed and Exhausted

Pros: While it worked, the drive was quiet and worked quickly. It was a good price for the storage size at the time. Two stars rather than one because when it worked, it worked well.

The warranty service was quick to ship back.

Cons: I have returned this drive through Seagate's warranty services a total of four times because of hard drive failures. There would be little to no warning. The first time and second time it clicked before becoming completely unresponsive. The other two times it just died. Each time has cost me $9+ in shipping, a large amount of frustration, and data.

If you plan on getting Seagate drives, make sure you keep all the packaging. If you do not ship it with the exact "clam shells" they want, they will void the warranty. If you don't have the clam shells, it costs 20$ in shipping from the website they provide for ONE PAIR. (?????)

I've given up after giving them too many chances. It just isn't worth it.

1 out of 5 eggsFailure prone

Pros: Cheap enough at the time.

Cons: I've operated a Windows Home Server for several years now, and have used Seagate disks. I think I just had my 4th Barracuda failure. That is, I have a failure, I think it's my 4th. This one's a spin-up failure. The previous ones were all creeping bad-block failures.

Other Thoughts: Seagate used to be a decent brand many years ago.
