Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a failed drive in my HP dv7t-4100 laptop. I was not able to save any information from my old drive to do a clone/transfer, but had backed up fairly recently, so just had to reinstall Win7 and a few other various programs.
My old boot time was over 2 minutes long (due to old hard drive), but with this drive it is now less than 15 seconds! When the laptop was new, the bootup time was about 45 seconds, so I am very pleased with the response time this has given me.
I was not able to run any sort of testing program, but the boot speed and speed at what the programs I mainly use were greatly increased!
The only negative that I have with the hard drive is the noise. It's not too loud, but it is a lot louder when "working" than I am used to. It only gets loud every once in a while, so not too bothersome, but it was something that I did notice.

Pros: Great drive, got it before the prices went crazy. Have it installed as a backup drive in this case, nice combo.

Other Thoughts: I bought this drive for my unibody MacBook. It really really makes a difference. I was about to throw it through the window but this drive let me keep my laptop and my sanity.

Pros: I can boot into Win7 64bit pro in under 20 seconds - The fact is you'll notice better boot speeds and quicker disk access with new controllers and newer chip sets - Also do a firmware update -

Cons: none really - does what it is supposed to do

Other Thoughts: I use this on an i72630qm ASUS laptop and it is pretty quik - every day operation is very good - as mentioned earlier seagate has a firmware update app - that does everything for you... I will buy these when they goto $89. or lower on shell shocker days - I will put these in all my computers - and of corse Newegg is awesome

Pros: Much faster than magnets, no special software needed, battery life consistent with other 7200 rpm drives, quiet as a mouse.

Cons: Nowhere near as fast as a true SSD, somewhat flighty (see below), boot time only likely to be improved if you reboot often.

Other Thoughts: Installed for a year in a mid-2010 17" MBP, dual boot with Win7 32 bit. For first 3 months I had unusual and intermittent issues on boot into either OS, culminating in a nasty file system failure under Snow Leopard. At this point I completely rebuilt the partition on top of a new copy of SL and Win7 (now 64 bit) and it's been rock solid ever since, even after the Lion transition. My advice? Don't clone the drive, use clean everything, modern OS and shut down properly. Not for amateurs.

Pros: It worked well for three months in my Thinkpad.

Cons: After 3 months started clicking instead of resuming from sleep, followed a day later by failing to find the operating system every other time I try to boot it. Had to replace it as I actually need my PC to be working - no idea how good Seagate's support is yet, and I doubt I'll trust any replacement they send.

Other Thoughts: I should have paid more attention to the poor reliability record of the Momentus XT before I bought it. Thought it could never happen to me. Yeah, right.

Pros: This is a great drive. I replaced a old smaller drive in my MacBook with this drive and it is fantastic! I never knew my Mac was so fast! This drive is very fast and stable, I would recommend this drive to anyone!

Cons: Sometime it will make a funny noise, but not often and its not very noticeable.

Pros: Faster than average HD

Cons: Boot Sector Failure

Other Thoughts: I tried two of them on the 2011 Macbook Pro running Lion. The installation was easy. This drive did speedup the bootup time. However, the first drive failed to boot in a month. I tried to repair it by using the MACOSX DiskUnility tool, not successful. I thought it could be the drive problem. I ordered the 2nd one to give it one more try. The 2nd one also failed to boot within a month. I have been using a standard 500GB drive on the same Macbook Pro for few months, I don't have any problem. So I have to conclude that somehow this drive has serious flaw working with Lion.
