5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive

Pros: Bought a pair of these for a build. Good and quiet, and they don't run terribly hot. Fast transfers. The warranty was a big attraction.

Cons: Not the cheapest 1TB drive by any means.

Other Thoughts: Warranty!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Drive

Pros: Put these in all my clients DVR's and none have failed me yet. I've been using he SV series for about 2 years now and they are fantastic.

Cons: I've had a few DOA's but that is to be expected.

Other Thoughts: To all the people who think that any hard drive will write at 6Gb/s: they can't. Most, if not all, hard driver barely need a full SATA I connection, 12 MB/s is a bit low,but you should be seeing around 20MB/s if everything is configured right. That speed is a good drive.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HD

Pros: This HD is great. Lots of space for lots of game and music.

Cons: Windows 7 didn't give it a 5.9 rating for whatever the reason. I put this drive in the 6 Gb/s slot on my MB but that didn't help the rating at all. Still fast enough to do gaming with.

Other Thoughts: Seagate has an interesting history. Some love it some hate it. I have had issues in the past with Seagate drives but there support is some of the best. They have always taken back any drive that I have had a problem with as long as its in warranty. Do not be afraid to pick this up.

3 out of 5 eggsNot For Desktops

Pros: I bought this because it was a Sata 6.0 Gb/s drive for a great price. I'm sure it does what it's suppose to do very well and that is record long hours of video from a security camera.

Cons: However, for desktop use this thing was nowhere near 6.0Gb/s. Transferring files took a long time at the rate of roughly 12Mb/s or slower. The hard drive would constantly time out while transferring large amounts of data and eventually disappear from My Computer. A reset wouldn't bring back the drive, but a complete power shut down would. I suggest just getting a regular SATA 2 drive or anything else for desktop use.

3 out of 5 eggs2 outta 3 or 3 outta 5?

Pros: Inexpensive SATAIII drives w/ 5 year warranty.

Cons: I'm a bit disappointed with the quality of these 5yr drives. After owning 3 of these drives for a little less than 3 months, one of them died. No SMART warning either, the drive just stopped working. The failed drive sounds like it has bad bearings. Fortunately, I purchased the 3 drives as a RAID5 set, so while degraded, I'm not totally sunk.

Other Thoughts: RMA with Seagate was easy enough and I should have the replacement drive in a few days. I will however purchase another spare from Newegg in the event it happens again. It will probably also arrive sooner.
