5 out of 5 eggsSeagate ST500NM0011

Pros: Designed for extended daily use.. as in servers. Quiet. Efficient.

Cons: As with any hard drive, eventually may fail. But the extended warranty, up to 5 years, is a blessing. SSD types still have 'growing' pains as to long-life.

1 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: It's a hard drive

Cons: Slow slow slow. No faster than a 4 year old SATA II hard drive. Even connected to a brand new machine with SATA III, it performs no better than a SATA II drive.

Other Thoughts: I regret purchasing this drive

Pros: Super quiet and is sporting a nifty 250~300MB per second sustained read and write in a two drive raid0 array. Installation was about 5 minutes to open the case and pull the old drives then insert the new and raid them up. All in all *well* worth the $99 per drive. =)

Cons: None atm.

Other Thoughts: I have two empty sataIII ports and just might order two more constellation es and make my Samsung 840pro system drive envious.
Darn you newegg and your reasonable prices.. =p

5 out of 5 eggsBest Deal I have come across

Pros: There are quiet and made by Seagate? :D

Honestly they may only be 500GB in size but are made to take level of reading and writing which would destroy most other HDDs on the market for home users.

This is a drive that can handle everything I can throw at it and then some more! Plus a 5 year parts and labor warranty is pretty much unheard of for most drive...so I'll jump on board for something like that!

Cons: None as of yet

Other Thoughts: I wish my MB was not failing but it is under warranty so we shall see what happens about that soon enough! :)

1 out of 5 eggsDoA

Pros: None! Fail to preform as listed.

Cons: Just got my *New (questioning it) Seagate Constellation today. Plugged it in and did the typical installation process only to find out it was refusing to format... So i decided it might have been my old OS acting so i tried it on my newest system. Big mistake! It took a once fully operational Win 7 and turned it into a error happy nightmare. So i decide to run my "SeaTools for Windows" and preformed a basic test which gave me a failed result and a code" DEA4E0E1" which i guess means something Great has happened!
I also checked with "CrystalDiskInfo" and it gave me "B8 End-to-End Error Current [1] Worst [1] Raw Values [000000000404].

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a hard drive...

Pros: Quiet operation

Cons: Not SSD

Other Thoughts: It's a SATA hard drive... it worked, no problems. No huge noises on writes or reads. I used it for a storage device to backup my SSD to. Never been disappointed with a Seagate drive.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: I know the drive is built for reliability.

Been 5 months of 24/7 operation and not a single issue.

Cons: Got some noise to it. But its not that bad. I like it. I know its writing/reading when I hear it.

Other Thoughts: Got one of these when they were on sale for $99. What a deal at the time.

5 out of 5 eggssolid enterprise drive

Pros: Works fine, fast for sata, I can't hear it.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: A Vantec Stealth 80mm case fan is louder. Outperforms
competitors of the same interface type and rpm on
sustained sequential read/write. Probably only achieves
SATA III speeds (minus overhead) when reading from or
writing to the drive cache (the platters cannot deliver
6gb/sec on 7200 rpm drives).

5 out of 5 eggsPretty silent actually

Pros: Excellent price point for features and quality and it offers good reads/writes speed for a mechanical drive.
I use it as a storage drive.
It does make clicky sound on writes but it is not that bad. I thought I was going to end up with a HDD as loud as in the 80's but it is not the case at all. Noise level is really, really decent. I could even sleep next to my PC with no problem whatsoever.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Thanks Newegg for shipping on time and delivering in best manners.
