2 out of 5 eggsWorked

Pros: It works

Cons: Started making clicking/chirping noises just after return period. Had to buy a new HDD to make sure I didn't lose all my data... It is now a "backup" so it hardly gets used, which is the only reason it gets 2 eggs.

Other Thoughts: Thats what I get for buying refurbished.

1 out of 5 eggsNo worth it at these prices!!!! Big Risk!!!

Pros: Cheap at first glance, but really not since you are taking a big risk with them.

Cons: Very unreliable and no warranty past the 30 day return policy. If you get one of these be sure to test it thoroughly as soon as you get it. Then you are still taking a big chance if it will last or not. Wouldn't buy one again, since I have an expensive paperweight. Shame on Newegg for selling these without making it clear there is no warranty of any kind on these.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable RAID Drives

Pros: I have built two file servers and both of them are using this drive in a RAID 5 array. The older server has run with no issues for three years, so far. Neither server has yet failed a drive. All of the drives are 'refurbished'. Barracuda ES drives are meant for this kind of service. Their performance bears this out. Reliable drives.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: These 'refurbished' drives are good-as-new, maybe better than new. My belief is that they get a really thorough testing after they are rebuilt. The evidence of their reliable performance argues that it is equal to or better than the final testing of new drives.

1 out of 5 eggsNo eggs if it was possible

Pros: Makes a great paper weight or door stop.

Cons: I work in IT and I get these, the 500GB ST3500320AS and ST3500320NS models back from Seagate RMA department on a non stop basis. As a matter of fact I have accumulated about 100 of them so far.

I finally refused to keep using in our servers because they die within a few days use, so I was continuously pulling them out and sending them back. So often, that I lost count of how many times the same drive has been to Seagate and back. They also send back the exact same drives with outdated firmware

Other Thoughts: I am slowly replacing the Seagate models I mentioned above with Western Digital Raid Edition drives and they work like champs. If one does fail and needs to be returned, Western Digital sends back the very latest updated version of that drive. That is how you keep customers happy.

We also have new blade servers with new 2.5 inch Seagate drives that are dying daily. Those are also being replaced with 2.5 Western Digital black drives. Never again.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat buy

Pros: I have been able to move my operating system out of case. Everything runs much cooler. I got the 1 x Rosewill RX-358 V2 SLV (Silver) 3.5" SATA to USB & eSATA External Enclosure w/Int.80mm Fan and 1 x Rosewill RX-DU101 2.5" & 3.5" Black USB 2.0 Docking Station all for $99 dollars so I bought two of them 1 for each computer.
I have them up 24/7 now for 5 months.

Cons: I wish I would have had more money I would have bought a few more.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Worked out of the box, continues to work. Reasonable speed

Cons: A but loud and rattly, but I do have an open case.

Other Thoughts: I bought this refurb during the thai floods because it was cheap and daily deal. I don't see any reason to buy one now because bigger and better drives are cheap now. But if for whatever reason you need a 750gb, go ahead.
