5 out of 5 eggsFAST and Quiet

Pros: SUPER fast and very quiet. One of the best drives I have ever owned.

Cons: Price versus "standard" desktop drives is higher, but you get what you pay for. 7200 rpm is not 7200 rpm.

5 out of 5 eggsSeagate Constellation ES

Pros: Fast, high capacity, warranty period.

Cons: Price

Other Thoughts: Tested this with HD tune 2.55 in an external enclosure and it performs extremely well. I am using it for backups instead of everyday use.

Using a Thermaltake ST0020U external enclosure, I got transfer rates of 67.9 MB/sec min, 151.6MB/sec max, 119.5MB/sec avg. Access time was 12.6mS and burst rate was 163.2MB/sec.
My motherboard has a USB 3.0 connection

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Storage Drive

Pros: Large but not by todays 4TB siblings fairly quick have 2TB Barracuda that runs faster this drive maintains about 100 MB a sec versus about 130 from 2 TB Barracuda. I have always been a WD fan and have had great luck but have seen lots of neg reviews lately on their drives. You can tell the difference between this drive and value drives its weight is double and leads to motor are larger a 5 year warranty is encouraging as the warranty is usually intended to be at least twice the expected life of unit.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Works and has a lot of space.

Cons: Make sure to format the entire drive before you try to do any windows install or windows wont let you install cause the drive is preconfigured in some mode, idk, but formating the drive fixed it

5 out of 5 eggsSeagate

Pros: Sweet drive. Very quiet and fast.

Cons: Don't have any.

Other Thoughts: I was looking at WD blacks and blues which were very popular and there seems to be a run of faulty drives in the past weeks. I didn't take a chance on 'em and I'd rather spend more money for a drive that has a good rating and better warranty. This is it.

5 out of 5 eggsNice.

Pros: This drive isn't fast by Raptor or SSD standards, but it is really nice as a storage drive.

5 out of 5 eggsSeagate Happy Customer

Pros: Quiet, Low power usage, longer warr than others. Seagate, never had a problem with a Seagate drive, have bought more than 10 over 10 years. All my hd issues have been with other mfg. I will stay with Seagate, trust their tech diag software available on their site. I have been building my own systems since 1990, 23 yrs.

Cons: They are not free.

Other Thoughts: Decided to go for one of their more expensive drives with a longer warr. I back up, and still if a drive fails it is always a pain. Booting from a SSD, using this for all my data. Cost of this drive was a small percentage of what I spent on the total i7-3570S system, with ASUS P8Z77-V PRO/THUNDERBOLT LGA 1155 motherboard, Fractal Design Define R4 case, Samsung 256GB SSD 840 Pro. All bought from Newegg, will continue as I've had nothing but the best service from Newegg. You will not regret purchasing this hd from Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsBigger and Faster

Pros: Larger size and higher end drives that can handle vibrations in a shaky environment. The large cache aint to bad either but I am also using a ZIL log array to help out.

Cons: I hope they dont bomb out like the normal 1TBs. So its RZ2 (RAID-6) since I still dont trust them.

Other Thoughts: Got some really decent numbers from this setup. Coming from an older DAS for my home setup of 2x Dell 220s filled with 146GB 10k scsi. New array is in a 3GBs sata/sas enclosure connected to an Adaptec 6445 card. Not getting the full 6GBs but still nice. Purchased 8 and placed it in a RZ2 (RAID-6) configuration using ZFS then moved data. Writing a 4GB file of zeros with compression enabled with zfs I was getting 77MBs now its 260MBs but that will slow down as i fill this all up. Happy so far.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far So GOod

Pros: Enterprise grade drive with high reliability, 64MB cache, SATA 3, rated for 24x7 operation, 5 year warranty. I bought two and they passed the short generic and long generic tests with no problem.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I intend to use two of these in RAID 1 as the data drive for my critical data on the my main computer. I'm going to do some speed testing and come back with another review.
