5 out of 5 eggsworks as expected

Pros: Cheap price for a 1 tb hard drive. works as expected, better than the drive it replaced, which was just about 4 years old, lasted a whole year after warranty. Installing Windows 7 was a breeze, bought extended warranty these time, still a bargain price for this drive

Cons: would be nice to get a sata cable, but not really a con

Other Thoughts: happy with speeds of sata drives, so have not looked into SSD drive yet. I still go for the best bang for the buck for my needs and uses

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Drive

Pros: Decent size, Decent price(60$ sale), good speed. Benchmarked near 200MB/s read/write on sata II.
And the best of all ... it worked right outa the box :)

Cons: Even though it benchmarked with good numbers, it seems to boot slower than my 40MB/s IDE drive(from 2001 with 3 years of power on time, and makes funny noises every so often). Once the system is booted however everything seems to load much faster...

Other Thoughts: Worth the price in my book, recommend this drive to anyone. Seagate has a decent brand name and decent warranty from what i hear.

4 out of 5 eggsGrrr

Pros: quite and fast and plenty of room

Cons: bought 2 of these to set up in raid 0, one was DOA which bites, but it does happen, RMA with is quick and simple and a replacement is on its way.

Other Thoughts: Have used Seagate drives for a few years now, always had very good luck with them. 1 DOA drive wont discourage me from buying them. Like I said DOA happens sometimes no matter what you buy!

1 out of 5 eggsExtremely Poor Preformance

Pros: Cheap

Budget Building

Cons: Skips when loading a(n) OS, despite formatting the drive numerous times.

Freezes when OS loads for a hang-time of 10 min. Windows 8 Premium - Windows 7 Professional

Requires Constant "chkdsk" for bad sectors on drive

Drive corrupts due to "Bad Sectors" causing no "Recovery" for the drive nor it's "Data"

Other Thoughts: Now, I'm not trying to judge too bad on this drive for it is good for budget building, but if your on a budget I would advise looking elsewhere. When I first purchased this item from Newegg I received this item which was damaged on the internal "Head" causing a "click" noise. I was soon to return this product for another, which in the product line, 1** out of 1,000 of these units may have a problem. My second drive that arrived worked perfect for two weeks. Out of certain updates with Windows 7 Professional, this drive was slowing down drastically. This drive was again sent back and replaced. My third drive was working correctly for a time of two months before more problems occurred. I had these problems with windows 7, so I decided I needed to move to windows 8 with the new drive to avoid previous problems. With the new OS of Windows 8 Professional the drive was starting to take a very long time to load up the OS. Upon loading the drive would be at activity 100% and take a hang time of 5-10 mins for the computer to start responding. Numerous actions were taken to re-format and check for bad sectors on this drive. Many bad sectors were found in the first week of having this drive preform with windows 8, leading to a corruption of the drive to have a status of "unrecoverable" as to not being detectable in the computer's BIOS nor the OS command prompt actions. These drives I would not recommend to anyone trying to build a "trustworthy" computer. If you want to make a budget, I would advise to spend the extra $30 for a "High-Quality" drive but as with all HDD's you will encounter the occasional defects in the production line.

5 out of 5 eggsThis one seems good

Pros: Installed and formatted fine. Excellent value for the price. Good performance, large cache and 7200 RPM.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought several of these drives from Newegg. This one installed about a month ago and running good. Quiet. No chirping or clicking noises, something Seagate's are known for. I hope it lasts a couple of years. In my opinion, it seems like the 1TB Seagate drives are the most reliable in their line. This one was built in China.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None this time, unless you count hearing interesting sounds when powering up the drive. Almost musical variety of squeaks, squeals, and clicks.

Cons: Did not work. DOA.

Other Thoughts: Shipped quickly. Newegg packaged the drive very well, plenty of cushioning. Customer service was great, very quick and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to order again.

5 out of 5 eggsbest drive for the price

Pros: i got it on sale for $59 cheapest most reliable drive/company out there. installed windows 7 pro with no issues. used it in my dad's build and he is making a great transition to gaming so this is a great start. also i purchased the same drive from am azon over a year ago and still no problems. that is what swung my decision.

Cons: none so far!

Other Thoughts: now that its been a year and ive used over half of the drive. windows loads a little slow. so an ssd would be handy in my case.
but for my dad he should be just fine for at least a year if that i doubt he fills it up. as ive used just over half. for a budget build or just getting started you cant go wrong with this drive. unless your a moron. which i know there are plenty of out there.

YES their are plenty of larger drives out there but this is the cheapest most reliable option when even just researching your options.
this drive came wrapped in bubble wrap..(didnt know they still used the stuff) and an anti static bag underneath. very well packaged newegg! am azon did not ship drive in the same manner an anti static bag 2 pieces of plastic holding it stationary in the center. made me a little uneasy at first being my first build and all.

but i recommend buying this drive on sale or not. because its reliable and is cheap enough to beat out competition at least at regular discount pricing.
EDIT:spelling.
