Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Pros: Had one for about 8 months, just got another. Fast drives, lots of storage and almost silent.

Cons: Occasional click when the heads unpark, but no big deal.

Pros: This is the next gen Seagate Barracuda

Cons: I have to say goodbye to Seagate as this model, which costs a Jackson more, replaces it's 3TB predecessor with only 20% of the warranty. Specifically, this hard drive only has a 1 year warranty where it's predictor had a 5 year warranty.

Other Thoughts: So one egg out of five to reflect your warranty. How can anyone have confidence in a company which does not have confidence in itself. After literally hundreds of Seagates purchased I must bid you adieu.

Pros: Massive storage, 7200RPM, relatively low price.

Cons: Drives over 2TB have some sketchy hardware support, especially with RAID controllers.

Other Thoughts: I've got 12 of these drives, 6 from newegg, 6 from elsewhere in a RAID-Z2 setup with 2 of them as spare drives. FreeNAS 8.0.4, RocketRAID 2720SGL AMD FX-4100. Running great so far (Day-0), will do an updated review in a few months.

Pros: Fast, Crystal Disk Mark Sequential 198 Read, 196 Write with Z77 motherboard.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Hoping it is reliable.
Using as data disk, booting from SSD.

Pros: Got it on sale and it was a great price for so large a drive. I've been busy ripping all my music to it and have not been disappointed in it one bit. It's large cache, SATA 3 through put and one Terabyte per platter all combine to make this one nimble drive.

Cons: None thus far....

Other Thoughts: Great for data storage and even the occaisonal game if you want to keep your SSD drives clean and tidy. Couldn't ask for anything more.

Pros: Great MB to Dollar ratio. Low power consumption and quiet.

Cons: One of the 2 drives I ordered would be seen in the system and then would drop from the Machine when it got used a little. Passed all Diags from sea tools until it just disappears. I reboot and it comes back.

Pros: Its a great Hard Drive does what it does.

Cons: For some reason I only get 1.9TB I have no idea why I but it isn't like a huge issue besides that's still a lot of memory but i would like to get what what i paid for...

Pros: +1TB platters, fast
+7200rpm

Cons: -no acoustic managment
-default apm parks the heads frequently (noticable click when it unparks)

Other Thoughts: Purchased 2 of these drives and working without any problems. Ordered one a month earlier that was DOA (gave it one egg in that review).

Can disable the aggressive head parking by changing the APM setting for the drive but it resets it every time you cold boot.

Pros: Very nice drive when it's working. I brought 5 of them to build my media storage for 15TB with Drobo S. It was not even a month old and I already has 1 hard disk failure. Not sure what exactly the cause to it. Maybe got damage during shipping? Since the first time I load it into my Drobo S there was some kind of metal contact noise. Unless it was just my luck.

Cons: Except for one of the unknow failure so far so good with others.

Pros: Ordered on monday, received and installed on wednesday !

Other Thoughts: It is my first Seagate, was using WD before.
I was looking at te WD 1TB carviar black, but they are just to expensive ! I have a Patriot SSD 120GB as my OS and game drive, this one is for some programs and video/music/pictures/etc.
I feel a little cheated from Newegg since I bought it during their HDD sale, it was on special at $179 ($209 with instant rebate of $30) and free shipping. Today, the price is $169 ($179 with an instand rebate of $10) and $10 shipping.
