1 out of 5 eggsBroke twice

Pros: 2 tb a bonus for added storage. I have a lot of pictures an video and wanted a larger capacity drive. Somewhat compact.

Cons: separate power cord and stopped working on after few months.

Other Thoughts: bought first drive summer 2012, then it stopped working in Nov. Seagate sent a replacement drive in January 2013. Again, stopped working in April. Seagate willing only to replace drive continually. I have read many other reviews stating the same issue. Hopefully they have fixed the problem.

1 out of 5 eggsTotal junk

Pros: Big in capacity, cheap in price

Cons: Died in 18 months, and Seagate only offers a 12 month warranty. If you value your data stay clear of this drive

Other Thoughts: I fix a lot of computers, and Seagate is no longer in my vocabulary. I will not replace anyones drives with a Seagate.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Ext HDD for the $$$

Pros: 2TB for ~$100 + USB 3.0!!!

Cons: Drive is a bit noisy and the plastic case gets somewhat warm, but not any more so than other full-size external hard drives I've used in the past.

Other Thoughts: Have purchased two of these for backing up critical data at work. They work fine for this and with USB 3.0 are blazing fast!

1 out of 5 eggsPrognosis; less than a year

Pros: Size and price. got it for 109 on sale

Cons: Purchased this in august 2012, It died all of a sudden in March 2013. It didnt get moved or shaken or dropped, it just quit working. The processing lights comes on solid and the windows explorer will begin to malfunction. Once i unplug the USB, then a message will come up stating it needs to be formatted but it will not allow you to perform that operation. tried diskpart. it will see the drive there but will freeze once you give it a command.

Other Thoughts: It came with a 1 x 1 Yr Service Net Replacement Plan. I see why now. Also when trying to replace it, it is stating that I cannot replace it. Not sure what the issue is. Will probably get hosed on this one twice.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive and versatile

Pros: Great drive, fast, and USB 3. Also, pretty quiet

Cons: It's big and heavy.

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these and broke open one from the external case. If you do that, you basically destroy the case. The hard drive inside is a fast. I think one of those energy efficient ones with 32 or 64 cache. Sorry, I can't remember the specific model but it's pretty nice. It saved me a lot of money doing all of that and it's nice to know that the external has a good component in it.

1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable with Grotesque Returns Policy

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Product failed after a couple of months. Seagate was nice on the phone, but their replacement policy requires return of the defective drive within 25 days to prevent my credit card being charged a penalty of 60% MORE than the product cost. I was unable to retrieve the data from the dead drive & had to return the replacement. Seagate's response was to tell me I should have had ANOTHER backup. (They did not specify how many backups I need to backup my backed up information).

1 out of 5 eggsEnclosure + Drive both went bad

Pros: At the time of purchase, was a great deal (best $/GB for <1TB drives). When it was working, had excellent performance using USB 3.0.

Cons: Enclosure failed within the first few months, but the drive worked fine in a replacement USB 3.0 enclosure.
Not long after initial purchase, drive also began exhibiting a pinging/clicking sound that would begin somewhat randomly, but would continue until a reboot. Drive would remain unresponsive to I/O during this time.
Now having to back up data from the drive (in pieces, in-between unresponsive spurts)

Other Thoughts: Issue for this model was supposedly fixed by a firmware update, put it apparently wasn't applicable to this model.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: Purchased a pair of these for some simple backup solutions at work. They are quiet, cool, and play very nice with Win7 and Server 2k8 R2. Heavy use at night (backups are scheduled then) and never a problem or error to speak of in nearly a year.

Cons: They don't come with bacon :-(

Pros: Simple design

Cons: The device worked twice and then wouldn't power on. Hoping the replacement last longer!
